Xmas is almost gone

In the Christmas Race we are now entering the almost final week. Soon you can see the Finish Line, and then it will be all over. No more Xmas songs, Brown Cakes, Pepper Nuts, Risalamande, Gløgg. Down goes the Xmas decorations.
You have survived another Christmas, and can raise your arms and cheer. Congratulations !!!
But you still have some time to go, and one event you should´nt miss is the annual Floating Lucia Parade, taking place in the canals Friday December 13th around Kayak Bar and Christianshavn. Its always a grand event, with singing and cheering.
The Grå Hal X-Mas Market is continuing, but don’t go there in the weekend. Then you wont survive. Also at Galloperiet in The Loppe building they have a nice cosy market with foodies. Hallelujah

Wednesday 11th
Speed Metal at Pumpehuset when Marduk (Sverige), Attic and Unlight (Schweitz/Deutschland) are performing.

More Swedish at Lille Vega, when Refused are dropping by with Pure Punk Rock. They are coming back from the Future in the 1990´s with a fresh attitude.

And even more Swedish in Amager Bio and the Name: The Flower kings says is all. Its Psych inspired 1960´s Hippie Rock.

Thursday 12th
Hurula is from Umeå Sweden, and the new hope for Swedish rock. With strong vocals and lyrics he should be really good on a stage. Warming up at Loppen are Sun Bather with members from Gorilla Angreb.

Also this year The Sankt Annæ Gymnasium is making a X-Mas Concert at Operaen Christiania. The Big Band will perform the good old X-mas tunes together with new Jazz classics. And there is Gløgg, Risalamande and foodies. Cash Only.

When you look at it Vanløse is not that far away. Specially not when you have Orcas with a concert, supported by Myreskær and Big Mess. Danish Beer and Social Realistic Lyrics, it will be a good evening.

Hot Chip is Electro pop at its best. “The best Intellectual dance band in the world”. You can find them at Store Vega.

Friday 13th
For some Danish political Hip Hop go to Loppen and Von Dü. Its both Hip Hop with a big touch of reggae, and the Concerts are turning out to be a real party. Supporting is Verdensmænd with a Caribbean inspired Rap.

This years Christmas concert at Alice is with Mames Babagenush, who are a local band playing Nordic / East European / Balkan inspired tunes. It will be a real party, and since the Saturday concert got sold out in an instant there is a second on Friday.

Ungdomshuset have another Punk Concert, the last before X-Mas. Its an international ACAB (13.12) hardcore day featuring Animal Club (Bel), Hypcrite (Local), Obstruktion (Swe) and Kalik (Horsens). Bring cash for entrance and bar.

In Raahuset there is Electronic Music for you with Bokamosa. It consist of 7 different DJ´s and I believe it will be a Magnifique dance party.

Elevatorfører is High Class Psychedelic rock, and now they have been playing for 10 years. They are ending the celebration tour in Vanløse Kulturhus, so another good evening for spacing out.

Saturday 14th
Acid Arab are back at Pumpehuset after the concert in January that turned out to be the best dance party. Its Electronic with Analogue instruments and vocals, and a Techno Mix with traditional folk music from the Middle East. The Paris Based Duo will make you dance like never before.

Your Disco evening this weekend is in Bolsjefabrikken, with Disco Rebels and three different DJ´s playing underground Disco, Roots, Dubwise and steppa. Cash Only.

You can experience the incredible The Courettes in a special X-Mas show and release of there new Christmas single. The Garage Rock Duo will perform at Raahuset with the Support of Chris & Kenn.

Mikael Simpson is not a figure from The Simpsons, but a really good Rock / Indie musician and text writer and here he is with his Sølvstorm Band. To have a show with Mikael at a small venue like Loppen is really a Scoop, and if you have the time and the energy, you should go for it.

Xmas at Draghouse is all about dragging up your favourite Christmas songs and impersonating your favourite stars. The Draghuse is in stre Vega, and you will have one of the best and funny nights of the Xmas.

Sunday 15th
Rasmus Nørh is on stage at Hotel Cecil with his sweet lyrics and simple pop cords. It smeel like summer here in the middle of December.

Tuesday 17th
Metropolis is a ground Breaking Movie from 1927 by German Fritz Lang. The Plant x Izumi-San, is an experimental ambient / jazzcore-duo from Japan who are perfoming their dark and sonic music for the film. Loppen are putting up the Silver screen and stage.

Copenhagen is coming more alive in the autumn.

Back in 2008, after 1½ years of constant demonstrations, Ungdomshuset opened up again in September. And that is to be celebrated, so this weekend it starts with a Galla dinner on Thursday, and Friday and Saturday there are concerts both at Dødsmaskinen and in Salen. The program is both Hip Hop, Punk and Drum n Bass. Cheap and warm Beers for cash only.

Who doesn´t like a good movie? In Cinemateket they have a Music film festival, with films like Woodstock (50 years), Elvis, Fela Kuti, PJ Harvey, Miles Davis an many more.

Feeling Happy? Well then you can join the Festival of Endless Gratitude, with loads of new and a bit older bands. The location is AFUK´s halls at Enghavevej, Vesterbro. The line up is really good, with experimental and Psychedelic in the centre.

Also at Islands Brygge Kulturhus, they have a Festival. Geyser is “Two nights packed with live music from the indie folk-underground. The festival springs from the monthly singer/songwriter showcase Klub Geyser which aims at presenting upcoming as well as established artists.”

Thursday 12th

When you is the last time you heard some South Korean Surfer rock? No? Well here is a chance in a lifetime, to get that cross on CV, when Say Sue Me, from Seoul are at Loppen. And according to rumours, Korea Is new place to be with Indie stuff.

If you miss good old Post Punk Cure and Bauhaus, the Canadian Actors are your thing. It sounds like mid England in the 1980´s and they a Local support band in Foreign Resort, which is even more Cure like. Its in Stengade, Nørrebro.

In Lygtens Kro they are having Swedish Hypnos on a visit. “Hypnos has their feet in the wave of retro rock drawing inspiration from heavy metals infancy during the 70’s and 80’s. ” warm up is local Taunus.

Friday 13th

For some happy danceable Pop Rock Loppen is the place. Tacocats from Seattle are here, with something that reminds me of good old Junior Senior. Supported by Twen also from the US. Very Indie like.

Electronics of the 1970´s with self-built instruments, and inspiration from Kraftwerk and tangerine dreams. At Alice you are finding Apparat Organ Quartet from Iceland. It moves into danceable rhythms , And sounds good. Supported by Triple x SNAXXX, who are doing more of the same stuff.

Stengade has a visit from Norwegian Death Metal band Blood Red Throne. They are still going strong after 21 years as a band, so this is your change to do some head banging. Another Dead metal band are supporting. Skanderborg are sending wayward Dawn.

Red Warszawa are performing at Amagerbio, with another of their Crazy Shows. Its really entertaining, so why don´t go? Supported by Vrävarna and Demolizer.

For a heavy techno dance-floor, head for Pumpehuset and Københardcore. Its frantic dancing, and a good light show.

In Underwerket, you can have an evening with Punks Undead. An Irish band – Nilz – and a Swedish Band – Existenz – are performing with warm up from Local NimbWits

From Austria are visiting two bands. Savannah and Minus Green are Heavy/ Psychedelic/ Stoner Rock and its of course a Free concert at Lygtens Kro

Saturday 14th

Crunchy Frog is an institution in Copenhagen. The Record Label have artist like Junior Senior, Raveonettes, Powersolo and many more. The 25 years anniversary is being held in Pumpehuset with bands playing. Also at Byhaven, there will be performances. Seems like the party of the week.

Fastpoholmen is a Danish / Swedish Folk-Reggae-World band. They are really putting up some sweatier concerts, and I like them in a smaller venue than Store Vega. But maybe they have just grown to big for the smaller clubs. Check them out. They are getting better and better.

For some ethnic Hip Hop with world rhythms head for Alice. From Ecuador comes Kingman, who has been living most of his life in the Amazonas Jungle. If you want to move your feet and your hips, this is where you should go.

This week Loppen are apparently only taking non European Indie bands in. This Saturday it is Australia, who are delivering. The Stroppies are from Melbourne, and are on there first tour, after releasing there first album. So they are a new hope for the future. Holm are a local support band.

Halshug is one of the best new metal bands. Since Debut in 2012 they have become more mature , and have slowed down a bit, but are playing just as loud. On the tour they have come to Stengade , and are supported by Deformation, who are more like Hard Core Punk.

Hello Sister ! Hej Søster is a Concert in Vega, taking initiative for bringing more women into Music. Falullah has invited Marie Key, Soleima, Nelson Can among other for this one day festival in Vega. And they are right! WE NEED MORE WOMEN IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS.

Sunday 15th

On Sunday, a Half Marathon Race are taking over the Streets of Copenhagen. But since the roads are closed anyway, Nørrebrogade are making a day of street party’s. And there is a party at Den Røde Plads. So loads of entertainment on your Sunday.

Tuesday 17th

Mystery Lights are said to be one of the best Garage rock bands right now. Listening to them, I have difficulties in hearing the garage part of it, but it sounds interesting like Kinks and a bit of psych. Good guitar work and old School organs. Supported by DYGL, which is Japanese, and more of the same kind. It might be an interesting Tuesday evening at Loppen.

Samba from Hell? Satanique Samba Trio, are at Alice, and are performing Alternative, Experimental Free Jazz samba for your poor ears. And its a 5 piece trio from Brazil. But the name stuck.

Wednesday 18th

Most people – and Clubs – move the birthday to the next weekend. But not in Stengade. Its Wednesday the 18th so why not celebrate with a couple of Australian rock bands. Anyway here are DZ Deathrays and Press Club, all the way from Down Under. Listening to the two hard rock Bands, I think Press club is the best. For 9.99 kr in the entry, this must be the best value for the money of this week.

Indoor Hygge season is starting. With Punk, Death Metal and World Music

One of the years best Metal Festivals are coming up in Pumpehuset: Kill Town death Fest #VII. It runs from Thursday to Sunday, but its sold out Friday and Saturday. At they write in the manifest: “Our focus will be mainly on the contemporary death metal bands of the international scenes …what we think is a selection of the best of the bands out there. … we try to also encompass …more established bands without focussing on headliners as such. We feel that the big bands of the older generations have enough exposure and there is no need for us to bring them in.”

Music is a lot of things, and at the other end of the spectra of rhythmic Music, you find the Copenhagen World Music festival. As the names says, its from all continetnts and in many different genres, so go and ahead and find your favorite musical part of the world, and enjoy the live performance.   It’s the fabulous Kim Jezus who is the chairman, doing an incredible job with the whole crew.

And this weeks street Party is in Istedgade on Saturday. With circus for the Kids and cold Hipster beer for the adults.

Thursday 5th

Civic is coming to Loppen. The Aussies are a one of the best old School Punk Bands right now. They have the right sound and attitude. As warm up bands are Planet Y and Situationsfornærmelse. I like Planet Y and has seen them a couple of times. Situationsfornærmelse is a wonderful name for a band and in my ears they are sounding like Dansk Fløde.

Tuhaf is a Danish / Turkish ensemble Playing Funky Anatolian Acid rock, with singer Berrin Bas in the Front. Its a really cool band with a good vipe, that I have enjoyen many times. Its in Kulturstation Vanløse.

Friday 6th

Didn´t get a ticket for Kill Town Death Fest? Go for Stengade and Aphyxion called The saviors of melodic Black metal. I did not know you could be saved in Black metal 😉 . Supported by Hearteater, and that is some Post Hard Core.

There is more heavy for your poor ears at Amager Bio, when Alkymist are performing with the very heavy sound of something that could remind of Rammstein. Supported by Bethmoora and Duing Hydra.

When I take tourist around Copenhagen, they are amazed that there are Natkirke and performances in the Cathedral, Vor Frue kirke. This Night its celebrating 20 years of Natkirke with Mashti and Jean Von Baden hosting the event with numerous artist popping by. And try the new cocktail: A Virgin Mary.

Saturday 7th

The Grey hair and the wrinkles are there, but punk never dies. It just smells Funny. In Rockmaskinen, Christiania the yearly Nostalguratu concert is taking place with six bands on the poster. Main band is Swedish The Nomads, that I remember well from the 1980´s, but also ska legends Soup Dock !!! with a new singer – Punk band Nexø, – Amp (members from City X) – Whife Escape (a legendary Ungeren band) and Sort Morfar (1980´s Barbue Band)

Helmet are having there 30 years jubilee this year. Its called ”the thinking man´s heavy metal”, and are in family with something like Queens of the Stone Age. To see it in a small venue like Lille Vega, is a Unique opportunity.

Märkbar is an institution in Vesterbro nightlife, and now 20 years have passed since the Opening. President Fetch, Hola Ghost, Orgelheimers and Rare Mogens are performing when Märkbar for one night move to Basement on Enghavevej. The Gutter crew will be there, and the Fernet Branca shots will be abundant.

A double Concert is when no Band is the main band at the poster. Kulu and Gordon June are at Loppen and are playing Soft Melancholic Indie. They are both local bands and are upcoming on the Copenhagen indie scene. 

In Ungeren they are making a Party for the Revolutionary Antifascist. Its 5 year birthday bash with 4 bands. Both Hip Hop and Hard Core Punk. Here is also Distros and Vegan Food Only Cash

Operaen Christiania are hosting yet another Latin Cumbria Party. The music  “stretches between heavy latin rhythms, surfy riffs, psychedelic sounds and melodies influenced by balkan music.”  Its Cumbia Psychos and Mambe and Danochilango who are performing, and after its DJ´s Cash Only.

Bikstok are playing at Reffen, and there should be some free beer.

Tuesday 10th

The wedding present is a very British band. They are from Leeds, and have been performing since 1985 with Post Punk blazing Guitar Indie Rock. Now they are at Lille Vega, so ig you remember them its a must.

Wilco is a Chicago Band, performing in a Alt Country / Indie way, and they are at the Grey Hall Christiania.  Supported by Spiral stairs.

Only original Kraut Rock comes from Deutschland. Like Mother Engine for example. “The German trio plays instrumental rock music influenced by Stoner- and Postrock as well as the trippy Psychedelic Rock of the 60s and 70s and the indigenous German Krautrock.” Its at Lygtens Kro in Nørrebro.

So we keep on with hot humid I-ffel-like-Jumping-in-the-harbour weather. I like it – although inside it gets very hot, at the events. So I go more for the outdoor events this weekend.
The songwriters festival is at Onkel Dannys plads in Vesterbro, going on for 3 days. Check it out, with loads of singer song writers. A good place to get laid.
Another Festival is Karrusel, which is a ‘OPEN AIR electronic music festival in Refshaleøen. The festival presents international house and techno music and new Danish talents of all dancy genres across 3 stages. Its Friday and Saturday

Thursday 29th
Don’t miss the chance to hear one of Denmark’s leading New black metal bands in all it’s might and with brand new material! Orm is playing at Alice. It’s a metal Band in a world music place, and already sold out.So yu have to be clever and Lucky to find some tickets. But nothing is impossible for the hardy:

In Ungdomshuset D61 they have a little fast and loud Hard Core Punk Concert. Two Swedish bands: Scumbag Millionaire and Deadheads. Local Taunus are warming up gor this Thursday event. Bring Cash for bar and entrance.

The Name of the band is Hazemaze. And the name says is all. It a stoner / Doom band from Sweden and they are about to release there second album. They are accompanied with another Nordic Brotherhood band. Saint Korloff is a more Doom in your painfull ears. Its at Lygtens Kro and starts at 10 Pm.

Friday 30th

For the best ethnic dance event this evening head for Alice and Rob from Ghana. The Accra-born pianist and frontman, only released a few albums in small quantities, yet two of them are among the most sought-after records from 70’s Africa.
Go and find some legendary High Life Root Music. It’s the Chance of a lifetime.

In Loppen Outta Endz are presenting an evening with the coolest Jungle. They have Double O (UK) and Theory (UK) on there first visit in Denmark. So hands up and start you with Drum N Bass and the evening.

H15 at Kødbyen are having the one year birthday Party. Kresten Osgood are here with his Drums, and a Organ band. Free Sangria !!!

Saturday 31st

Its a long time since we had psych in Copenhagen. But here it is with The warlocks from West Cost US, that has been active since the 1990´s They are accompanied by another psych band, The Stevenson Ranch Davidians. Its an evening for flying away on your eternal purple cloud.

Finally Stengade are opening up again, and that is with a legendary retro event. Propdenoppopklop are back from the 1990ties with an evening of Indie Rock. Its all because of the 25 aniversary of the Chrunchy Frog Record label . On The Stage will be The Mopeds (Se) Death Tothe and EPO-555. It is an evening of reunion and Gray (or no) Hair.

It’s the last event for this summer at Bølgen in the Harbour by Kalvebod Brygge. An impressive DJ line up start up with Anders Midtgaard, followed up by Steen Kong and taken further by Rasmus Lützen. Pure Ear Pleasure for your mind, body and soul. /

You should give yourself a chance and go listening to Nuri. Mixing deep bass, organic percussion with poly rhythmic grooves, this guy from Tunesia is doing it alrright. Go to Alice and get your Boat rocked.

Harbour Festival and Streets Partys

The summer is not over. still plenty of chances of jumping in the water, and having fun. And a lot of reasons to go outdoor and have fun. I love this old video with Mungo Jerry– so rest in next 4 minutes, and enjoy the Beards.

Out in Bellahøj, they have some pretty tall buildings, with a great view of Copenhagen. And here there is a new Circus group of Acrobats “The Voyages of Companie XY ”, That are performing up in the air, in between the houses. Go and check it out. It should be quite amazing,

We are in still in the Era of Street partys. This Saturday you can hit three of them. Nansensgade   Skydebanegade Jægerborggade and Århusgade Flee Market. And The Bicycle Flee Market at Buddha Bikes in Bolsjefabrikken.

Antifascist Football tournament is taking place at Blågårds Plads with DJ´s and other stuff.

Thursday 22nd

Loppen is finally opening again after the summer break. She Wants Revenge, is a California rock band, playing Rock, with a dry guitar, and good vocals. I can here some Post Punk Bauhaus here. The other band is Gliss, that has been around in many years, and are now releasing there 7th album. Its a bit more Indie dreamlike, with soft vocals.

Matt Woods is from Tennessee and is visiting Lygtens Kro with his simple Folk/Country/Rock and songs of social problems from the real life. I am thinking a bit of Bruce Springsteen. I will be at the floor.

For cool electronic music, head for Kaj – din ven i solen, at the canal by Hal C in Christianshavn. Its free and DJ´s Kresten and Madvig are hosting.

Friday 23rd

UHØRT (Unheard) Festival focuses on the newest Danish artists who have the potential to break through on the Danish music scene. This year it’s the 7th version of and 39 of the newest Danish artists will attend the 3 stages at the festival site with energy and enthusiasm. It’s at Enghavevej 80 (AFUK)

Hellhorse is a not too bad Arena Rock band. They have made a new record “Hydra”, and is performing a release Concert at Hotel Cecil. They are good on stage, and has been warming up to Rammstein, Slayer and AC/DC.

Råhuset – Vesterbro – are inviting you for a pretty good evening. The Vacant Lots are back in Denmark after being a support band for BMRC. They are a Noise/Punk/Indie band, and are covering a lot of miles these days. They will also soon be supporting The Dandy Warhol’s. Now they are the big name and are supported by Deadpan and Mavourneen ( Who are also at the Uhørt festival same evening)

Saturday 24th

Underwerket is stepping out of the Punk Rock genre for a brief moment and are going for a Drum N Bass event. Loads of DJ´s will make the dance floor sweat.

Operaen are hosting a new concert organiser. Alterlatino are presenting Tunche Soundsystem, and it is a live band “an explosion of musical anarchy that revolutionizes the fusion between Latin rhythms and electronic sounds.” Could be good for showing your dancing skills at the Floor.

Just around the Corner from Operaen, you find Christiania Jazzklub, and here they are opening after the summer break. Apartment are having a release party, and the organiser – Regns rec – are having other Live names and DJ´s on he Bill. I don’t know them, but it will for sure be an interesting evening. Bring cash for the door and the bar.

Tuesday 27th

Eels (Or just E) are back in Denmark. Last time he played at the Royal Theatre, but now he is are more fitting place: The Grey Hall of Christiania. His text filled with sorrow and pain (and a great humour), goes right to the heart, so I will be at the floor listening to the great band. Supported by Robert Ellis

Wednesday 28th

Molly is not just the name of a Dog, but also the name of a local band playing Rock/Post punk/Indie. Its a Free concert at Byhaven and   Blood Child is warming up.

Ellebæk is a detention centre for Refugees seeking Asylum in Denmark. They live under bad conditions and this Tuesday there is a Support concert for them at AliceCph in Nørrebro. Elijah Okello is an upcoming Copenhagen-based artist. Throughout the summer Elijah has been giving a lot of good concerts, and on this night,  you can expect to experience his danceable music with the elements of soul, R&B, hip-hop and electronic funk.

Bo is Back from Summer

So finally I am back with the Blog. Your local concert announcer has been resting in the summer, put its time to take up the challenge of starting again.
And the end of summer starts with a blast of a Party! Its Pride week in Copenhagen, with Rainbow flags everywhere. There is no end to who that wants to be part of the show. It is culminating on Saturday, with the big March to Rådhuspladsen.

If you think its a bit to much with the commercialism, you can join the Capitalism free Pride in Nørrebro.

Most of the Concerts Venues are still on summer pause, but there are many festivals taking place. By the start of September everything should be back to normal. But the Flee markets are starting up again.

Thursday 15th of august

Franklin Zoo is a Danish Stoner band and The Sledge is warming up. It’s a free concert at Byhaven, so drop by and check it out.

Kill Town Death festival is taking place in September, but here is already a Warm Up for you at Pumpehuset.  Australian Eskhaton, spanish Altarage and local Ascendenc are performing until your ears are bleeding.

If you miss the good old days with Bob Marley, you can get a fix of the Original legendary The Wailers. I have a ticket and is going to Kingstown, Jamaica prepaired for dancing to the slow rhythms a few hours at Docken in Nordhavn.

Friday 16th  

In Pumpehuset there is a new festival: Blossom, is taking new upcoming Blossoming 😉 bands up, and gives them a chance, It’s a mixtue og genres, so you have to be prepared for everything from Electronic to Hip Hop and Neo Punk.

Saturday 17th

Grandmaster Flash is called the Godfather of Hip Hop, although he was not the first. But he brought iHip Hop to the radio, and have some legendary hits on Bill. And now he is at Amager Bio, and there are still tickets left.  

The Festival season is far from over and at Refshaleøen, You can find the Foxtail Festival, with Bluegrass, Country, Hillbilly and American Folk. Refshale means Rævs hale = Foxtail, so the name and the venue suits each other!!! 😀 There is a happy hour on the entrance from 3 – 5 PM, so its 2 for 1 price. Entrance is 150 kr.

Tuesday 20th

In Valby you can find Underwerket, and they have another punk Rock event on this Tuesday. Baby’s Blood (Fin/US) is “Unpolished HC Punk with a greasy Garage Rock vibe to it.” Zoketes from spain are also on the bill a long with local Careless drinkers.

Another Great week for Live Music in Copenhagen.

Hello for another Bash of what’s going on in Copenhagen this week.

We are only at the start of the festival season, but here is another one for you: A Colossal Weekend is from Thursday to Saturday, and is taking place at Vega. A lot of bands, mostly in the Post Punk / Indie / Rock Genre. Besides the music programme the guests will be able to explore talks, exhibitions, arts and vinyl market.
Also at Amagerbio there is a festival, though not in the same scale. Nordic Noise is Heavy metal in the light version. Mike Tramp is the head name, and its mostly Danish and Swedish bands. Check out the programme here: I Think I wait for K-Town in Ungdomshuset.

Until Dorte told me, I forgot all about The Start Festival in the weekend. 50 live acts with new bands in Frederiksberg at KU.BE in Dirch passers Alle. AND IT´S ALL FOR FREE!!!
Its both live music and all sorts aff performances, and part of the Frederiksberg Days. And there is also a lot of Micro Breweries up there taps.

Live Music

Thursday 9th
Its experimental and noisy when Spectrum hits the stage at Alice. He has collaborated with prominent acts such as Stereolab, Yo La Tengo, My Bloody Valentine. Supported by Anders Vestergaard.  

Its also Alicecph that is arranging the next concert, but its at Bremen Teater. Dreamers Circus is the the most popular Danish Folk Band. It´s at the forefront of the Nordic folk and world music scene.  The other band is Söndörgő from Hungary combines these all brilliantly with their signature instrument, the Hungaro-Serbian tambura.

Cryptopsi Is from Montreal and play some of the fastest hardest metal I have heard in a long time!!! They have been around for some years and have a significant back catalogue, their relevance and importance is as high as ever. Supported by INGESTED [UK] + DEMONICAL [S] + GLORYHOLE GUILLOTINE [US] (Another Great Band Name!!!) Stengade is putting floor and stage for this attack on your mind and body.

The name says it all: High Reefer can only be something to get stoned to. With a sound deeply rooted in modern stoner rock while still giving a nod to the earliest Sabbath records, High Reefer’s first offering is driven by pounding rhythms, thick guitars and soaring, screeching vocals. Of course at Lygtens Kro. Remember Ear plugs and cash for the Merch.

Klaus Handsome & Gadens Løse Fugle are members from Saybia with Klaus Handsome. Its new Danish Indie pop, and its at Byhaven at Pumpehuset. Gratis.

Battle Beast are from Finland, and could be running for the Eurovision, just like Lordi did, some years back. Pop metal that belongs in a Arena at Pumpehuset.

Friday 10th
When Papir is performing at Loppen, you are in for an Jazz/ Psychedelic experience, with the Danish Instrumental band. They have won much acclaim outside of Denmark, but hear they are at Loppen. Supported by their Norwegian Brethers Kanaan.

In Ungeren they have another punk evening, with bands from Japan and Sweden: ZYANOSE (jp) Osaka crusher crusties – farewell tour! 偏執症者 (PARANOID) (swe) punk SEX DWARF (swe) Stockholm noisy raw punk. ZYFILIS (öresund) Öresund raw punk .

In Operaen – Christiania – there is Hip Hop with a new band: DSB are playing Hip Hop from when you where a small child. There are also other bands and Local DJ´s . Cash only

Lately we have had a lot of bands mixing Arabic folk with western electronics. Shkoon is based in Germany but also come from Syria. their own sound by mixing Arabic scales and traditional folk songs with classical harmonic structures. In their sets, oriental melodies partner up with occidental electronics and create an atmosphere filled with texture and spice.  Its at Alicecph

Extremely Rotten Death Metal are arranging another Concert at Pumpehuset. This time its Finnish Metal with Danish supporters. The head names are Convulsive and Cadaver Incubator and the Supporters are Undergang And Chaotian. Be prepared for deafening taken-no-mercy Brutal Death Metal in Pumpehuset.

More fast and loud for you, When The Stonebridge Boys are setting up another Concert. Its oi!!! Punks when The Templars (NYC) and local Stokes are in for Ear plugs needing concert. Underwerket is the place to go.

Saturday 11th
William Burroughs heard them in Tangier in the 1960´s and called them »a 4,000 year-old rock’n’roll band.« The Master Musicians of Jajouka are Recognized for their music by the Moroccan Royal family for centuries, by jazz masters, rock gods, respected writers and elite artists from all corners of the globe, A Unique evening at Alicecph

Dengue Dengue Dengue are an amazing band from Peru. I saw them some years back at Roskilde Festival. The Electrocumbria is sure to make your hips and feet move, and you will walk out of Loppen filled with sunshine and laughter.

Råtkøbenhavn is returning to Stengade, with Rumble in the Jungle ll. Its Rap battles and punches to your voice and ears, when the competitors are joining the arena, for some serious exchanging of harsh rhymes.

Now 7 years have gone by since the first Balkan vs Swing took place. Its celebrated with another bash of fantastic Swinging Balkan Music at Operaen. Expect hard-pumping drums and tuba, complaining harmonics and sweat-dropping saxophone and trumpet solos. And sweat on your forehead and in your armpits.

Klub Æter is arranging Synth Pop at Underwerket, with Automelodi from Mont-real Canada, and they sings sexy in French. Supported by Mavourneen who is not Synth Pop at all, but more No-wave and Noise Rock. And there are also some Indie bands. I’m a bit confused about the setup. Two many directions leads to nowhere.

Swedish action punk band Scumbag Millionaire is an extension of the classic scandi-rock scene which had its prime in the late ’90s. The scene fell quiet for a while, but with people starting to crave new acts, someone had to pick up where it left off. Lygtens Kro is lending the floor to this.

Stylo G, is the biggest name on the English Dancehall scene. And now he is at Pumpehuset, with local DJ´s arranged by Dancehall Madness. Also Dancers from Kingston, Jamaica are performing, so got with the Rhymes and get high in the smoking lounge.

Sunday 12th
Rat Boy is English Hip Hop with an good edge to it. I can hear some Clash in the lyrics, so Its something with a message on Social Injustice, and street riots. Its at Ideal bar at Vega.

Monday 13th
“An Evening With Benjamin Clementine & His Parisian String Quintet” is taken place at DR´s Koncertsalen. He is having an unique voice, and is a brilliant piano player. So you are in for a beautiful goose-prick generating evening. And when you start out as a street musician in Paris an ends up here, then you are like The Basquiat of Music.

Tuesday 14th
I have Known him since I was Pre-teen with “Når Lyset bryder frem”. Its a trip down memory lane with Sebastian, so now you know what to do this Tuesday. Its unique to see him again, and sing along on Full Power. Buy your ticket now, since it will soon be sold out.

Wednesday 15th
I have not heard them before, but I am a bit surprised of how good it sounds. Brutus is High energy, with a lot of action, Noise Guitar, a Good voice from the Drummer. Its both Post Punk, Metal and prog rock. And something in between. Its in Lille Vega.

I am a feminist!!!

And I believe in equal rights between Women and Men, and everything in between. Both in Law and in practise. So I am also celebrating March 8th

This week includes the International Women’s Day on march 8th. There will be a lot of events on Friday, including a demonstration from Vor Frue Plads at 4.30 PM .

Now it is warm up for the Copenhagen Dox Film festival, with a lot of screenings. There are also Live music Events. And my new Political radical friend Pamela Andersson are coming along with Chinese Artist Wei Wei.

And the first record faire of the year is taking place in Nørrebrohallen. So its time to stuck up on your Vinyls, and find some of the bands you almost forgot.

Wednesday 6th
This is not this Heat, is members from legendary This Heat from end 1970´s start 80´s with experimental Rock, Post Punk, Avant-garde. They perform two days, and the first day, there is also a showing of a legendary art movie: John Smith. Its at Alicecph

Ungeren is starting a bit early on the women’s International day. This Night there are visitors from Poland: Siksa and Pochwalone, with Local Følsom front as a support band. “Queerfeminist anti-capitalist protest band.”

Bob Log III is an One man Army band playing Guitar and Drums, wearing a Fighter Pilots Helmet on stage and playing Rockabilly, like there is no tomorrow. Very entertaining, and something to be seen at Loppen. Simon Raun is warming up to the legend.

Thursday 7th
Bow Wow. The Dogs are barking at Amager Bio. The band are from Oslo Norway, and are Playing with there high octane Arena Rock ´n Roll with a good vocal and blazing guitars. They have a live performance that should´n be missed.

Danish D/troit are playing Party Soul Funk Music, so if you lack some easy going dancing, this is your chance. They broke through two years ago, but started the career hanging out in Ungdomshuset. That’s how it goes. Loppen are hosting them.

San Holo is remixing Hip Hop Tracks and making theme more dance friendly. Here you have the Dutch hit maker in a smaller venue, and you should be guaranteed a perfect Dance evening. So its electronic dancing on a Thursday at Pumpehuset.

Radiant Arcadia is an all female troupe, performing with a big splendid blend of Races, Religions, and skin colour. The music has a big emphasis on the vocals, and the musicians works more like a Collective, with members going in and out of the group. They are at Metronomen – Godthåbsvej in Frederiksberg.

Friday 8th
March 8th is a busy day for the Live music People. A lot of good concerts out there.
Dawda Jobarteh takes his Westafrican griot heritage very seriously, and as coming from an old Griot family, he is at the epicentre of Gambia’s musical aristocracy. This night the kora player will perform with his quartet at Alicecph

Hun Solo (Her Solo), Are celebrating march 8th with 5 female artist, who are performing Solo on Stage. This year its Jenny Wilson (Swe), Selina Gin, Nana Jacoby, Drew and Kirstine Stubbe Tæglbjerg who ar taking over at the stage. Can be a very intersting evening at Hotel Cecil.

In Vega Kvinfo are celebrating the March 8th Day. Its with Concerts and talks, from female artist, journalist and politicians.

The Courettes is one of my favourite bands. The Couri Couple are playing Garage Rock with a cool attitude, and are sure to give you a fantastic Concert with there raw energy on stage. You cam find me at the Dance Floor. 😀 . They are supported by OWMI, who are playing Soul Funk with abrupt rhythms.

I Remember Laibach Playing in Ungdomshuset back in 1984, with their Groundbreaking Industrial Techno. Now they have move upwards To DR Koncerthuset, where the Slovenian band will perform. Before they have done Concerts in Marmorkirken, so they have been performing in better places, than the minimalistic Studio2 .

Swedish reggae praising Cannabis? General Knas is the answer to your prayers. They are welcomed at Loppen, with there nice Old School Reggae.

GZA / The Genius is a former Wu Tang Clan member, and the first one to go Solo in 1995 with Liquid Swords. He is in Pumpehuset both Friday and Saturday. Performing the hold Liquid swords + old WTC stuff. Friday is sold out, but you can still see the Genius Saturday.

The Rumble in the Jungle is the name of the First Round of the Rap battle tournament. Drop by if you are in for some heavy Rhymes, and serious Beats. Its in Lille Vega

More Rock from Norway are coming to Beta – Amager Bio. Today it is Spidergawd, who are Guitar Solos, a remarkable Bass, and a Bass sax. Very original, and I wish I had the time.

Saturday 9th
Sometimes you have to experience something new!!! Like dancing to the Arabian Techno Prince Omar Souleyman, who are performing in Den Grå Hal at Christiania. His Arabian Shaabi Techno, will make you dance, and the setting in The Grey Hall is perfect for a party like this. Arranged by Smash!Bang!Pow!
Alicecph is a Jazz / World Music venue. So its a bit strange that they have this Doom metal evening with three bands: Sumac (US), Baptist (Can) and Nordra (US). Its a bit more experimental than your normal Metal, so expect something different. And try something new for a change.

Stengade has an evening of Dark Electro Pop, when Sally Dige, Totem, and Mouth wound are coming. Its all electronics one person bands, taking you into the dark realms of not feeling so good.

Operaen Christiania is open to anything. This weekend they have a Theatre / Musical ”BeatRoots”. Its something with Country music, Family ties, and the cost of Success. Its also later in the month in other places in town, so this is not your only chance to see it.

Monday 11th
Amager Bio has Melissa Etheridge, who Broke through in the 1990´s as another Strong Voice, along with Alanis Morriset. Its songs with a concern about the Environment, and what’s going on in the world today. She won an Oscar for the Music for Al Cores Climate Film.

Happy Xmas (War is over)

The John Lennon / Yoko Ono christmas song is iconic. But war is not over, even if you want it.  The war goes on all platforms, and you are in the center of it. The war for your time, the war for your money, the war for your freedom, The war for your _____________________ (please fill in).
So keep on fighting, to the be the one you want to be. 

Tuesday
Bauhaus is an iconic band from the 1980´s with post punk scene. I never really considered them Goth, but they have received a lot of attention from the Goth community. Peter Murphy, the lead singer and composer, are performing the classic Bauhaus songs at Vega. I saw the same show about 5 years back, and its really good. And suits the depressing weather. 

For those who are searching for a bit of heavy on a tuesday, the road will lead you to Amager Bio and Lucifer. They are from the forests of Sweden. Supported by Local Skinny Violet, who have left the garage,to play some rock.

Wendesday
The Blue Van at Hotel Cecil. Its really good positive pop rock, which you might need in these hard times.

Babylove & the Van Dangos are a local band: Jazzy, soul and Funk, at one of the many small Jazz bars in the center of town. Charlie Scotts have room for 150 people.

Thursday
The Christiania Jazzclub and Børneteatret have many differet shows. Today theres a English spoken Hip Hop arrangement, with Jethro Alonestar Sheeran and the guy who is always everywhere: Al Agami. They call it Hip Hop, but i will bet my old cap, that it will be more like Rap with jazzy notes.

Friday
The oldest NYC Ska band are still going strong, and are on a worldtour. The Toasters are visiting Loppen, and I would be there, if it wasn´t  for the julefrokost I am attending.  Polish you Dr. Martens and get going.

Another really good way to spend your friday is at Pumpehuset. Career Suicide, The war goes on and Night Fever are some of the best Punk/Metal bands. This must be the best concert of the week. Its loud and fast. 

For the Brazillian lovers, head for Operaen, Christinia, and Trypical Cumbia. Its a Big Band, who are performing, to make your feed move. You cant stand still. Theres a support band as well. It will be sold out, so come early, and bring cash, for the entrance and the bar. 

Saturday
This years Xmas show at Alicecph: The Kutimangoes are playing Hot Hot Hot Afrobeat. Enjoy and dance.  They are the best Afrobeat act in town right now. 

I first saw Danko Jones many years back in Stengade. Now he has made it big, with many tours, and last time he was at Roskilde Festival 2017. Pure Rock´n Roll at Pumpehuset

To warm up your heart in this cold weather go for Seven Inch Orange at Operaen. They are playing good old soul music, from the 1960´s and 70´s No doubt where the inspirations are coming from, and its really good, with a lot of horns.

Sunday
Enter Shikari is a British fast Rock band, thou describe themselves as being Hardcore. But they are fast and are going over the hills like a rocket. Its also at Pumpehuset.

And the Chritsmas market in the Grey Hall, Christiania are still on for the coming week. There are local bands playing and its really hygge. When I think about Xmas Hygge – I think about the Grey Hall Julemarked. 

Another christmas tradition is the Santa Lucia parade with kayaks in the harbour channels. Its on thursday december 13th and the kayaks are all lighted up. Its really beautifull. Sails of from the Kajak hotel at Kalvebod Bølge 4.30 PM.

Buy a Bloody Mary at the bar and go to the Christmasblood in Ungeren with Muay Thai. Its really exiting, and the audience goes wild. Best view is from the balcony. Doors open at 5 PM, and first match 6. Bring your cash.

BO IS BACK

Sorry, for not posting anything the last two weeks. But I was down with a serious batch of man-flu. Now Im back at the blog, sitting at the screen, with my fingers dancing at the keyboard. Meanwhile we have gone into december, the christmas month, with all the partys, christmas beer, gifts, Christmas markets, and ending it all with the biggest one night party of the year: New year.

Tuesday
The Nightmare before christmas,   The Tim Buton movie, is perfect for sing-a-long, so head for Cinemateket, where they are showing the movie. And you dont have to sit quietly in your seat. Jump up, and sing a long with the rest of the audience. Only for nerds. 😉

Wendesday
Viagra Boys  from Sweden are one of the best band names I know of. I saw them from the moshpit this summer at Roskilde Festival, and now they are back, playing at Lille Vega . Its post punk and rock´n roll right in your chest.

Thursday
Do you remember Rodriques who just came out of nowhere, with an album from the end of the 1960´s and just blew everybody away? Its the same story with the UK Singersongwriter Washti Bunyan  who is playing in a concert arranged by Alicecph, but taking place Nørrebro Teater in Ravnsborggade.

Cockpit Music is a legenday Copenhagen band dating back to the 1980´s. Jazz, Post Punk, World and Avantgarde finds its way out of the Guitar, drums and sax of the three guys. They are performing one of their rare concerts at Jazzcup in Gothersgade. Its early, starts at 4 PM.

Friday
Brazilian Cumbria at Alice Copenhagen. Its local bands and DJ´s, for this christmas show.  Grease your hips and dance your trouble away. 

For some good old psych go for the hippie place at Operaen Christiania,  where The Sonic Dawn are playing, and then Beat meremaids are Dj´ing with there amazing collection of 1960´s psych . Cash Only

Underwerket in Valby have visitors from Italy in Storm{o} who are playing hard core punk. They are supported by two Copenhagen Bands: Hypocrite and Flayed .

Its not many Cathedrals, that opens up for concerts in the evening. But in Vor Frue Kirke in Nørregade, its God Goes Deep,  with DJ Mashti, and a lot of guest. The church room gets illuminated, and you can sit there and meditate over the Chill out ambient sounds. Its world Class and of course its free.

Saturday
More brazillian at Alicecph when DJ Mam, from Rio are dropping by. For many years one of the best DJ´sin Rio, he has now joined with local Copenhagener Pharfar one a new album. So this is a release album Concert.  

Nikoline is the new superpower Feminist rapper on the danish scene. With ”Sut min klit” she is brilliant in getting her message out. I bet she will be doing the summer festivals around the country, so go to Loppen and see her before everybody else. 

One of this weeks best ROCK concerts are Deville at Stengade – Nørrebro They play loud and with good guitars. Bringing two supprt bands with them.

In Ungeren Nordvest There is a punk rock party, with Ond Tro (DK) & Svart Magi (Sweden). They are both some of the very good new wave in Scandinavia, and playing at one of there favorite venues, this is turning out to be a very good concert. And then theres a lot of DJ´s. Cash only. 

Turquise Sun are from Aarhus and are playing surf / psych, and they also have vocal hamonies. In Underwerket  you can also hear Fyr, who is Oscar from Orcas, with a guitar, and Bünni is warming up with some Lo-fi experimental.

Jul på Vesterbro is a legendary Christmas TV comedy by Anders Mathesen. The closes you are coming to the real thing is Märkbars Christmas paper cuts. There will be bands playing and you can drink the DødsGløgg  (Death gløgg) . You will be talking slurred and feeling it is not possible to walk straight. But funny as hell. 😀 

Sunday
No real good live music, but then go to AFUK on Enghavevej and see the Freak XMAS show, with a lot of international performers. Very talented body artists, so it will be a great show, for you.  

Monday
Two reasons for going out, on this monday.  Go to Vega, and listen to 1990´s Brit rock Ash (from Northern Island) who are still going strong.  They are supported by Indoor pets also from the UK

Supersuckers with Eddie Spaghetti in front are one of the best Garage rock bands, you can find on the the planet right now. They are playing at Hotel Cecil.
And suddenly your monday is not so boring after all. 

There are to kinds of people: Those who sell, and makes money, and those who buys and uses money. So you can find Christmas Markets all over town, that will gladly take your money and covert it to some crap. Some of the best crap is to be found at Christiania Julemarked. It opens up saturday december 8th, and goes on for the next two weeks. Choose a normal weekday in the afternoon, and NOT  in the weekend.
