While it gets darker and greyer…

We have reached the centre of November and we are still alive. Only 4 months to spring time. So what else to do, but go inside in the cold weather, and enjoy the fabulous night life in Copenhagen. The Christmas beers are in the shops (I am not talking about Tuborg) and soon we will be bathing in Gløgg with to many raisins, and will be eating Pebernødder until we puke. And then we know its X-mas. And The War will be over.

Pentecost weekend, and Pre festival Time

I forgot to tell you about the Klang Festival. Maybe because I am not a very enthusiastic person when it comes to Experimental Avandgarde. But That shouldn’t hold you back for making some new experiments.

Another Genre Festival is The 3rd Copenhagen Underground Film + Music Festival taking place across the city from 6-8 June. All events are donation based and the money which is collected will go to support Doctors Without Borders. So give all your money to this great enthusiastic project and go for some Electronic music. There is also a Bike-in-Cinema at the Old Ungdomshus Ground 69

Pray for warm sunny weather for the Pentecost Carnival in Copenhagen. As far as I can see, it has moved back to the Centre of the city, and is at Saturday in Rådhuspladsen. Prepare for Drums, Samba and all dressed up women, that leaves little to my imagination.

At the other end of the Spectre its a little more ruff with the Middelaldermarket – Medieval age market in Ballerup. Knights tournaments, rustic food and a great market. And of course Mjød. Take it away. Friday to Monday

Live Music

Wednesday 5th
Still Corners is Synth pop with a dreamy tone. The British band broke through in 2010, and sitting here listening to them its also a Dire straits Guitar. Loppen is putting up the stage, and the Support band is Danish Why Sun. Its more dreamy with Jesus and the Mary Chain Noise guitar.

I have heard Rumours that there is an Anti Election Party at Jagtvej 69. Starting at sundown. Party Rebels are the Host. But its been cencored by FAcebook.

Den Grå Hall in Christiania, must be the perfect setting for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Maybe its the Danish Drummer in BRMC that insisted in this setting. It sold out, but see if you can get lucky and find some tickets. Black Noise Rock for you

In Byhaven at Pumpehuset you can find Hoison Bascoe and CuzticLyla Haifa. Its Electronic Pop and acoustic Folk. So if you don´t care about the election, then this is a good place to go.

Your daily metal doze you will find at HotelCecil.dk with Swedish Shining. Its Progressive Black metal, and they are supported by a Slovenian band.

Thursday 6th
For me Mavourneen is the head name at Byhaven in Pumpehuset. But on the poster its Dune Messiah that is at the top. Mavourneen is No wave and noise rock, while Dune Messiah is a bit more Vocals, inspired by the great Rock´n roll poets.

Three upcoming bands at Raahuset: Beach Envy (Garage Rock) Januar (Danish Singer-songwriter) and Abel (Atmospheric pop ballads) Its free, so why not go?

Ever heard of Polyfeen? As the only Psych band from the 1960´s that still exist? They have been reunited and are touring the Country, with the Copenhagen stop at Lygtens Kro, that is more and more turning into psychedelia. Its free.

Friday 7th
Børnemagt is making a “All Power to The Kids” Party at Ungdomshuset. I been involved in these party’s, some years back, and its a lot of work with it. But Great Fun. They have Nexø coming with full angry Punk Outfit. And also Følsom Front are announced, and its a bit more quiet.

Bolværket !!! Just say the name. Its one of the most Authentic rock bands I Know of, with there Danish Lyrics of social de-route. Now they are at Holmbladsgade Amager at Prismen. Go For it!!! Bolværket always deliver.

Byhaven are having a tight program with the free concerts. Today its Yellowbellies, Morten Christensen and Select Captain . Its not possible to say anything general, put drop by, buy a Beer, and see what happens.

At Bartof cafe in Frederiksberg they have made a small Scoop. Alexander Hacke from Einsturzende Neubauten and Danille de Piccotto, Both from Berlin and Lovers of the best kind. HACKEDEPICCIOTTO They call themselves, with a Live performance of “Menektel” – Support: Mark Steiner and his Problems.

This weeks African concert you can find in Operaen Christiania. Faratuben is a Malian- Band, so its west African dancing right into your ass, and you better move it white Person. Their name is a blend of two words: Farafi – black and Toubabu – white . Cash for entry and Bar.

Last Raw Grooves arrangement at Råhuset. Five DJs are kicking ass, and let you dance into the summer. As always you can expect great quality techno and house music.

Saturday 8th
The Mexican Festival is again taking place in Blågårds Plads. Mariachi Bands, Tacos, Tequila Skulls, And the finest dresses you can think of (except at the Carnival) . The ambassador is coming by, and take a drink with you, before he makes a speech. Its Fiesta, like there is no Manaja.

Is it long time since you have seen a real good Dragshow? Here is your change at Lille Vega with the Mx Draghouse Competition. I bet that it will be a good fun and a lot of entertainment. Its all gender competition, so you still have the Change to practise. 😉

Geoff Bender is Whiskey, Punk and Klezmer. He is on stage with his rich voice, accordion, and a band that’s kicking Ass. The other band is quiet the opposite. Karina Willumsen is a Danish Singer, and she is both funny and clever, with her left wing songs going against the Capitalist system. To uneven bands on one stage.

A place for good techno and electronis today is Underwerket in Valby. Kosa Vostar X Beta Hz are celebrating the summer. Dan Darco from Malmø Sweden is the head name, so its underground techno into your heart. Its free until midnight, and after that you better bring some cash for the entrance.

Sleaford Mods is a mix between Techno and Punk, with a touch of Rap. Its a two man (Voice and electronics) very Typical British band with harsh Texts and an attitude of no Bullshit. The Support is Gorilla Angreb in Den Grå Hal, Christiania.

If you go Nord east, as far as you can go, you will end up at Nordsøvej in Nordhavnen NordsøLIVE. And out here they are making a small jazzy festival. There are many bands playing and food and drinks and a shuttle Bus. But I cant see the entry price anywhere. Maybe its for free.

Bølgen at Kalvebod Brygge is making waves for another Electronic Dancing Event. Drinks, cool music, swimming in the harbour. What more to ask for? 🙂

And the last thing to mention is the Nakkefestival preparty In Ungdomshuset. Both Salen and Dødsmaskinen are open for Punk live acts and House / Disco DJ´s. Cheap Beer, donation at the door, and Cash Only.

Sunday 9th
Monday is a Holiday, so you should think that somebody would put up a party, but nothing really happens. We have to make our own Fiesta. <2

Pisstortion is Back

The Pistortion Party is back in Copenhagen. Its the wildest Party on the Planet Denmark. Wednesday its Nørrebro, and Thursday its Vesterbro. The Neighboors hate it, and I am in a Limbo. Some places there are to many drugs, but the sheer chaos around it is appealing, and that you can make such a big party in your normal environment is beautiful. The rest of the week its at Refshaleøen, and a little bit more quiet.

If you are not in the mood for Distortion, you can go to Stengade or Alicecph.com, where they have five days of presenting the 1 year Students from the Rhytmic Conservatorium Copenhagen RMC. Good and new, young Music, and its free. 2nd to 7th of June.

Another place to avoid Distortion is in Pumpehuset, with Udgårdsfest 2019. Headname is Finnish Moonsorrow and Norwegian Trollfest, and with 3 other bands in the two days the Fest I taking, there is plenty of opportunity to stay in your metal Bubble.

Podcast Festival at Hotel cecil, with a lot of listening, and talks. Close your eyes and enjoy the darkness.

This weeks Blog is a little short, since time is running to fast for me. Thats the ways it goes. … I have to take care of myself. 🙂

Live Music

Wednesday 29th
If you want to continue the Distortion indoor, then Pumpehuset is the right place to go. Berlin based Âme / Frank Wiedemann (LIVE) – Marcus Worgull Matthew Dekay Are here to keep the Party going and your feet moving.

Tuhaf is this Turkish – Danish Psych band, that at are such Great performers. Now they are at Kayak Bar by the water, so when you finish the Hot dancing you can take a dip in the nice cold water.

Thursday 30th
For those of you who are fleing the Distortion on Vesterbro, Stengade in Nørrebro is the answer. Monolord is Swedish – Goteborg Doom Metal.

Or head for Riesen I Vesterbro, where President Fetch is making a Punk Rock Party. Come early as it sells out fast.

Some of the first Danish Hip Hop back in the late 1980´s was MC Einar and Humleridderne. Two legenday bands, that are now back at the stage at Halvandet on Refshaleøen. It will be a trip down memory lane with these two Coepnhagen legends.

Friday 31th
Trip Hop in stengade this day. Its to US band on tour Xeno & Oaklander and Void is filling in the stage. It is film music on a higher level, so you can enjoy this evening.

Thorbjørn Risager and The Band: The Black Tornado is playing raw Blues music, like they were born in the southern USA. Its swinging and is played with great enthusiasm and skills. A tight evening at Hotel Cecil.

Martin Hall, is doing a Spoken Word performance at Skt Lukas Kirken in Frederiksberg. A good chance to sit down and get some reflections into your life. There is also some jazz, and Tapas and Redwine.

Saturday June 1st
Black Lips, is difficult to put in a box. Its a little bit of Pop, Garage, Lo Fi, but they have a lot of energy that they cant udse for anything else. Been going on for 20 years, and now Loppen are putting them on stage. Really worth going to.

Romperayo sounds like a fast moving musical journey through Colombian tropical folklore, a mischievous and modern interpretation of the up-tempo rhythms of descarga and the psychedelic sounds of 70s cumbia. Its nice and easy and ready to go dancing at Alice.

In Ungdomshuset you can go and get rid of your aggresions on the Dance Floor at this Straight Edge event. Urano, Afmagt and Puke Wolf is at stage in Dødsmaskinen. Cash Only and earplugs is also a good idea.

A week before Copenhagen Carnival takes over the city, Operaen, Christiania are inviting you to the pre-carnival party at Operaen, Christiania. Copenhagen-based A Banda brings their Brazilian big band and dance show to Operaen in Christiania. Dance along to samba, samba-reggae, frevo, and more.

Sunday June 2nd
The four day weekend is almost over, But If you are into a Solo Grand Piano and a lonely voice, you can head out for Hotel Cecil and Canadian Spencer Krug. Its lyrics that brings you alive, and a fantastic Piano. If you like this kind of Music, its a must.

Monday 3rd
Deerhunter is back, this time at Pumpehuset. The Indie Rock Band has the last ten years had several cool albums, and is not looking back. Now they have invited Cate Le Bone in as a producer and temporarily member.

Store Bededag and Norwegian independence

St Bededag – The Great Prayer day is here and makes it a 3 day weekend, and 4 days of working / School. The weather is looking not to bad – it could be worse 😉
And Friday is also the Norwegian Independence Day. Celebrated with a big march in traditional clothes and a lot of food and beer drinking, at the Norwegian Church at Amager from the about 10.000 Norwegians living in Copenhagen.

Dancing
In Den Røde Plads Nørrebro, there is a Suburban Dance Festival with Hip Hop Dance on at Saturday. A lot of young kids are dropping down to Breakdance and acrobatic moves. A Day for Democracy
At Rentemestervej in Ydre Nørrebro, there is a empty plot of land. Now good creative people have started #garageparkNV Building all sorts of stuff, and creating a park with loads of opportunities. They are opening up on Saturday with a democracy workout fitness thing, and a program that lasts all day. A really good initiative, well worth of supporting.

Sound Walk
The Danes – everybody that understand the language – can go for this Audio Walk arranged by the Metropolis City Festival. “Oprørets Koordinator”, is about the rebellion that is taking place in September 2019. Just wait and see.

Live Music

Wednesday 15th
Norwegian Motorpsycho has been a inspiration for Scandi Psych bands since the first Album in 1991. And they are still going strong and are releasing a new album, that you can buy at the concert at Hotel Cecil. Its a combo of Jazz, Rock and Punk, and can turn out to be a very good evening.

I have not heard them before, but I am a bit surprised of how good it sounds. Brutus is High energy, with a lot of action, Noise Guitar, a Good voice from the Drummer. Its both Post Punk, metal prog rock. And something in between. Its in Lille Vega.

You are guaranteed a MoshMosh Pit, When US The Word Alive Hits Stengade. They are Touring Constantly with there Trash Metal. There is also three Support bands, so its a good start to the weekend.

Thursday 16th
Remember that Thursday is Store bededag – The great prayerday. So you can party all Thursday and pray for not getting a hangover. 😉

The best Rock Concert of the week must be Hellacopters at Vega. The Swedish Band has so many fans here in Denmark, and has among other places been playing Roskilde Arena Stage in 2017. They are as tight as ever, and you can look forward to a great show. Supported by Lucifer from Stockholm, who is more of the same shit.

Ungdomshuset have a Palestine support party. Its a couple of Hip Hop Live Acts – Funk The System and MC Alvarado – and then there is a lot of DJ´s, with Hip Hop, Reggae, Techno and a Feminist Dance Party. Cash Only

In Bumzen in Baldersgade they are going into the Post punk universe with Closer from NYC. It must be some sort of inspiration from Joy Division, and they are supported by Regarding Ambiguity from CPH. Bring Cash

The “Kaj – din ven I Solen” season is starting up on this Thursday. It takes place by Hal C in Christianshavn, by the canals. Its Electronic ambient and chill out and Close to Christiania. The DJ´s are the Loud Brothers.

Shambs X 912 is brand new local Hip Hop, that is mostly Lyrics about smoking Weed. He just started last year and has already been signed For warm up at Roskilde. I might be to old for this shit going down at Loppen, But its one of the next big things.

If you are into Funk/ Jazz / Rn´B Abdullah S is the best Danish answer. He has assembled a really Cool Tight Band around him, and is recognized as one of the best singer and composer in the genre. Its at Hotel Cecil.

Steve Hackett has been going on since The Genesis days in the 1980´s and is still going stronger than ever. One of the best Prog rock guitarists in the world he just keeps on going. A must for fans of the Prog Rock scene at Amager Bio.

For those of you who just don´t like sunshine and warm weather, there is the Dark Mental Festival. It Takes place in Underwerket in Valby. Its 3 days of Dark Metal from Thursday to Saturday.

The last thing I will mention on this very long list of Thursday Concerts is at Lygtens Kro, Ydre Nørrebro. The Reputations are from Austin Texas, and its Power Rock and Soul from that end.

Friday 17th
I have not heard Danish The Love Coffin before, but they sound like a promising band into the Post Punk / Indie world. Just made a new Vinyl on Bad Afro Records. Supported in Stengade by Visitor Kane and Ærkenbrand.

I am one happy little Boy. I have a ticket for the Julius Orlando and the Heliocentric s concert in Alicecph. A true pioneer of Nigerian music, saxophonist Orlando Julius has created his own groovy blend of highlife, afrobeat, funk, jazz and R&B since the 60s.  He is the last of legendary Afro Beat revolution, and first time i saw him, it was one of the best music experiences of my long life. True Story. ❤

Loppen is the oldest Live Music venue in Copenhagen, and tonight they are celebrating 46 years since the start upon then, very young Christiania. So friends of Loppen should go for the divercity in sr oca & dj gale(es) – Spanish World like Mano Nnegra – Slice (es) – Electronic DJ – Blue rose down(dk) – Trash Blues – and Birds happen(dk) Acoustic Singer Song Writer.

Ida Nielsen had a Major Break Through as the Bass player for Prince, but also has a career on her own. Here she is at Amager Bio with her own band, so there will be lots of Bass with the girl from Aarhus. Its Slapbass, Soul and Funk, and she is keeping the Spirit of Prince high.

Jirm (Jeremy Irons And The Ratgang Malibus ) is Swedish something between psychedelia, classic metal and heavy rock. The support band at Lygtens Kro is Silhouette, that must do there best to impress with the 1970´s Hard Rock and the metal of the 80´s .

Saturday 18th
Bølgen is opening up again for partys this summer. The concept is the same as at “Kaj – din Plads I solen” . Its Electronic dance music by the harbour, with drinks and a happy spirit. And then you can just take a dip in the harbour, at Kalvebod Brygge.

Copenhell Reunion is in Stengade and with three former Copenhell bands: Bersærk, Deadnate and Shadowspawn. So its Heavy Metal with some of the most promising bands right now. Its about picking up people who are into metal, but are out of friends with the same passion. A good project.

In Bumzen they have another Street Party, when the Social Decline band is holding there release party. But I will drop by to see the Dårligt Selskab Punk Band, which I think is much better. Cash only at the entrance and bar.

Hearteater is hosting a release Party at Loppen. Its Post HardCore and Grunge, and is with a really good sound and energy on Stage. Supported by local Ivy Crown ( Metal ) and Ayralist (Dead Metal)

Verdensmænd is playing something I will describe as Circus Music. You know the band that siteds a t the top of the gate and is putting up the right atmosphere for the performance. Its at Operaen in Christiania, and on this Saturday there is a band called Søndag, who is playing soul / Funk / Jazz . Cash only

Indisciplinarian Fest in Pumpehuset are housing a new generation of Metal bands. MORILD, ALKYMIST, SONS OF CAIN, NYT LIV, BASTARD GRAVE, EYES, SEBASTIAN WOLF. Its both Outside at Byhaven and inside with a entrance fee (But Cheaper beers)

At Store Vega, you can experience Swedish Danile Norgren, with his folk – Blues – Country – Bluegrass music. Its mostly Acoustic, a bit Melancholy, and makes you feel good. I havn´t heard about him before, but I like the quietness surrounding his music.

Chainsaw Eaters are being put up by Klub Luk Røven at Råhuset – Halmtorvet. Its Synth and Punk.

In Märkbar, Vesterbrogade 108 Rare Mogens is Playing Ramones covers.

Tuesday 21st
If you have nobody to listen to, you can listen to Nick Cave in Conversations. Its at Koncertsalen in DR Byen, and its very expensive, so only for absolute fans. There´s a waiting list.
