Darkness is sneaking in…

Your Humble writer is back after a well deserved holiday. Now its just 2 months to Christmas and we can all say hallelujah. Keep up the spirit now – it gets darker. On Sunday you can sleep one hour longer. Hallelujah … !!!
And another Hallelujah for hallowen or whatever you find funny here in the end of October.

If you are looking for something different, there is the Copenhagen Mix film Festival. Its LGBTQ+ films about the troubles you can have specially if your are living in another not so liberal country. Check out the program.
In another 3 weeks we will have the Cph Pix weekend festival, so many reasons for sitting in the dark with some pop corn.

Thursday 24th
It been half a year since I last time saw Rebecca Lou on a poster. Now she is back with more energy at Loppen, with pop-punk-rock. Supported by two other Danish Bands: Big Mess and Firs. Lovers of deep electronics should find there way to Mayhem. The Third Helix (Uk) and Manisdrom (Jp) are performing. Its both ambient but also dance real Techno. The concert is moved from Alice.

Shotgun Revolution is a local Bubble Gum rock band, who keeps on coming back to Amager Bio. Good vocals and Erectional Guitar Solos.

For some Danish Melodic Singer songwriter go for Chorus Grand at Hotel Cecil. As a former member of Cancer, he knows his genre.

Friday 25th
Ghanian Santrofi are back after performing at Roskilde Festival this summer. Its High life and dancing this night at Alice, so if you have nowhere to go, and likes African music, you can move your feet to alicecph.com.

Ivy Crown is a new Arena metal band, who are releasing there new album at Amager Bio – Beta. Give them a chance.

Canadian, lumber jack, gangster Rap? Head for Evil Ebenezer at Loppen. The lyrics are really something.

The Line up at Operaen are: San Antonio Kid (DE), Halasan Bazar (DK/NO/UK), Tony Elastic and The Slackliners (DK).
Its all some sort of Garage, Psychedelic and Surf. There are also 3 DJ´ in the same still. Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood are inspirations. Cash Only

Don´t miss out on The Bellrays at Raahuset. It will be a blast of a concert with the US Garage, Funk Rock Soul Band. I just bought the Ticket.

Børneteatret / Christiania Jazzclub has Francesco Signa. I dont know anything but try to check it out. Could be something. Bring Cash

Saturday 26th
Interesting Alternative Metal at Underwerket. Two bands are performing: FIVE THE HIEROPHANT (UK) and Pensées Nocturnes (FR) Both are doing some opera like Metal, and maybe Underwerket is a too small room.

Dubfabrikken meets Tom Bauminista at Bolsjefabrikken. There will be groovy tunes and smoke in the air. Bring Cash for entry and the cheap bar.

Tame Impala played some years back at Roskilde, and as far as I can remember it was a good concert. Some of the members are back here with Pond, which is more acid than the indie thing with Tame Impala. Very good musicians at Loppen

There is smooth Impro Jazz for you at Alice, with Get the Blessing from the UK.

Angie Stone at Vega. She has been a Pioneer in Rap, and is now more like R n´B and with a professional attitude and a Smooth voice. But its Expensive at Vega, so you better be a true fan or win the lottery.

Sunday 27th
For some original Mississippi Hill Country Blues you are on the right day. And the right spot to be on this Sunday is at Alice where Cedric Burnside is performing. He grew up with the Blues, since his Granddad was RL Burnside. Its Cool.

You are not in doubt, when you hear the voice of Tina Halladay – Front person of Sheer Mag from the US. Here is a Woman with something on her heart. Its a little bit of glam, and some punk and very political. Loppen are hosting them on this Sunday.

Monday 28th
Tinariwen was the first band to break through with the Desert Blues style, from Tuaregs in Sahara Desert. Very dry and simple, it is yet also melodic. Support band in Amager Bio is Tuhaf, who are doing some Turkish 1970´s psych.

Underarchives is something as rare as Psychedelic Hip Hop. Its from NYC, and you cant help of thinking on drugs with this Music. Hotel Cecil is putting up the Stage.

Tuesday 29th
If your are looking for some Danceable Electro Pop then go for Store Vega and Metronomy, who are playing on this boring Tuesday.

Wednesday 30th
Uganda is not often on the musical map, but with Nihiloxica, you have some Electronic drumming on a really high level. So if you are into East African Drumming this is the time to go to Alice.

Willy Tea Taylor is from the cowboy land, and are performing in a Raw singer songwriter style. Lygtens Kro is a perfect venue for this kind of Music, so now you know where to spend your Wednesday.

48 Years. Happy Birthday Christiania. And a long middle Finger to the Money addicted violent pusher types in the Street

Another week is coming up. The weather have gone into Autumn mode, and I am finding my hand gloves, the warm rain jacket and the winter boots.
Dress up well on Friday when we (You, Me and everybody else) are turning up for the biggest Climate demonstrations by Grown ups. While Greta Thunberg is speaking Thunder in UN, we are not sitting and waiting for things to happen. So meet up at Ofelia Square, by the harbour.

Sports
Its the 10 years Birthday of Copenhagen Roller Derby Team. They are competing other teams in 3 bashes. “All you need to know in advance is that roller derby is hard hitting, fast paced and a hole lot of confusion. ”. The event takes place in DGI byen and Doors opens at 1.30

Live music

Wednesday 25th
At Hotel Cecil they have a visit from US/ Greek Simrit. Its a well sounding mix of Folk, and West African (Salif Keita) rhythms, with a spiritual essence to it. In fact, its not bad to listen to. So this is my Wednesday recommendation.

I don’t like Royal Arena. Its too big, you have to sit down, and the Distance to the stage is enormous. So I am not going to Alice Cooper, but you can still get tickets if you want to see the legend.

Thursday 26th
Congratulations to the good people of Christiania: 48 years today. And a long Fuck off finger to the violent, money addicted dope dealers, who are ruining there own and others life’s. Find somewhere else to do your business. Legalize Cannabis. Its on time.
A lot of the live music venues, cafes and bars are having events. Check out Loppen
Operaen,
Woodstock
Nemoland
Månefiskeren
And there are more party’s, that are not announced anywhere. You can even make your own little party in you mind. 😀

In Lille Vega, they have a visit from the North Carolina band – Between me and the Buried. It sounds like something in between 1970´s Kraut Rock and progressive metal. Check them out, they are something special. Super fine musicians, that have been touring with Lamb of God, Mastodon.

For some Catchy indie Pop, head for Ideal Bar at Vega. From Germany its Leoniden, who are performing with a cool energy. They are big stars down south of the Border, and I bet the bar will be filled with German fans.

Friday 27th
In Ungeren, they have a Post Punk outline – Amanda X from Pennsylvania – USA. Local Enids are supporting with more Post Punk.

Mxrphy is a new rapper on the Copenhagen Scene. Just made a new album – Hafnia – . He is the new hope, and are performing the hold album on Loppen. Maybe its now, you should see him, before he hits the rest of the country. You never know…

Maybe they still have a hangover from the party, the day before, but at Operaen, they just smoke a joint, and feeeeel okay, and are presenting a new party with Brazilian Rhythms from Trypical Cumbria. So Polish up you dance shoes and find your best clothes

Thurston Moore is one of the most influencing musicians in Noise rock. Since The Sonic Youth Days he has been an inspiration for countless bands. Now he is solo with his own band, and are performing at a small place like Alice in Nørrebro. There is an afternoon and an evening concert, and I had a plan to go there, but now i´ve cancelled so I sold my tickets. 😦

For some Electronic dance event, Beat are arranging a party at Matrikel 1 at Højbro Plads. Steen Kong and Kiowa are turning the Tables, and your feet are moving.

Saturday 28th
For new Copenhagen Electro Pop, head for Shy Shy Shy at Loppen. Professional sound, but can they also do it on stage? They have a hit for the score to the Danish DR Doggystyle TV series.

At Alice there is a support party for the Folkradio FM radio station. So a lot of local Folk bands are coming, and you can expect screaming fiddles in your ear. Bring my mind back to the folk party’s in Ungdomshuset in the 1980´s.

You can hit the Dance floor at Hotel Cecil in the late night, with Soul Explosion X. Opens up at 11 PM

Fabled Mind, is a Copenhagen punk band, who are making a release concert at Underwerket in Valby. Its post Hard Core / Pop Punk in there own descriptions. So good that there are new bands in Punk.

Monday 30th
For this Monday I advise you to go to Pumpehuset and listen to French Nouvelle Vague. They are making Jazzy / Bossa Nova covers of old Classics like “To Drunk to Fuck”, “Love will tear us apart”, and “Have you ever been in love” by The Buzzocks. It sounds like a funny evening.

Shokran is the Arab word for thank you, but also the name of a Russian Prog metal band. For the first time they are here in Denmark, and are performing at Underwerket. They are supported by three Bands: Wings Denied from Washington DC, Hanging The Nihilist (DK) and Exelerate (DK)

Tuesday October 1st
There is a Egyptian Movie festival at Cinemateket. Therefore the Cairo based band Lekhfa are playing at Alice. The members are coming from the Alternative Arab scene, and its a blend of traditional Arabic Folk and bit of psych.

David Bowie, Bono, Thom Yorke, The Strokes and Pavement has all named Pixies as a favourite band, and Kurt Cobain, said that this is here he got the inspiration to Loud-Quiet-Loud build up. So in KB Hallen you are invited to a legendary band, who has been an inspiration to numerous musicians. It will be good. 🙂

Copenhagen is coming more alive in the autumn.

Back in 2008, after 1½ years of constant demonstrations, Ungdomshuset opened up again in September. And that is to be celebrated, so this weekend it starts with a Galla dinner on Thursday, and Friday and Saturday there are concerts both at Dødsmaskinen and in Salen. The program is both Hip Hop, Punk and Drum n Bass. Cheap and warm Beers for cash only.

Who doesn´t like a good movie? In Cinemateket they have a Music film festival, with films like Woodstock (50 years), Elvis, Fela Kuti, PJ Harvey, Miles Davis an many more.

Feeling Happy? Well then you can join the Festival of Endless Gratitude, with loads of new and a bit older bands. The location is AFUK´s halls at Enghavevej, Vesterbro. The line up is really good, with experimental and Psychedelic in the centre.

Also at Islands Brygge Kulturhus, they have a Festival. Geyser is “Two nights packed with live music from the indie folk-underground. The festival springs from the monthly singer/songwriter showcase Klub Geyser which aims at presenting upcoming as well as established artists.”

Thursday 12th

When you is the last time you heard some South Korean Surfer rock? No? Well here is a chance in a lifetime, to get that cross on CV, when Say Sue Me, from Seoul are at Loppen. And according to rumours, Korea Is new place to be with Indie stuff.

If you miss good old Post Punk Cure and Bauhaus, the Canadian Actors are your thing. It sounds like mid England in the 1980´s and they a Local support band in Foreign Resort, which is even more Cure like. Its in Stengade, Nørrebro.

In Lygtens Kro they are having Swedish Hypnos on a visit. “Hypnos has their feet in the wave of retro rock drawing inspiration from heavy metals infancy during the 70’s and 80’s. ” warm up is local Taunus.

Friday 13th

For some happy danceable Pop Rock Loppen is the place. Tacocats from Seattle are here, with something that reminds me of good old Junior Senior. Supported by Twen also from the US. Very Indie like.

Electronics of the 1970´s with self-built instruments, and inspiration from Kraftwerk and tangerine dreams. At Alice you are finding Apparat Organ Quartet from Iceland. It moves into danceable rhythms , And sounds good. Supported by Triple x SNAXXX, who are doing more of the same stuff.

Stengade has a visit from Norwegian Death Metal band Blood Red Throne. They are still going strong after 21 years as a band, so this is your change to do some head banging. Another Dead metal band are supporting. Skanderborg are sending wayward Dawn.

Red Warszawa are performing at Amagerbio, with another of their Crazy Shows. Its really entertaining, so why don´t go? Supported by Vrävarna and Demolizer.

For a heavy techno dance-floor, head for Pumpehuset and Københardcore. Its frantic dancing, and a good light show.

In Underwerket, you can have an evening with Punks Undead. An Irish band – Nilz – and a Swedish Band – Existenz – are performing with warm up from Local NimbWits

From Austria are visiting two bands. Savannah and Minus Green are Heavy/ Psychedelic/ Stoner Rock and its of course a Free concert at Lygtens Kro

Saturday 14th

Crunchy Frog is an institution in Copenhagen. The Record Label have artist like Junior Senior, Raveonettes, Powersolo and many more. The 25 years anniversary is being held in Pumpehuset with bands playing. Also at Byhaven, there will be performances. Seems like the party of the week.

Fastpoholmen is a Danish / Swedish Folk-Reggae-World band. They are really putting up some sweatier concerts, and I like them in a smaller venue than Store Vega. But maybe they have just grown to big for the smaller clubs. Check them out. They are getting better and better.

For some ethnic Hip Hop with world rhythms head for Alice. From Ecuador comes Kingman, who has been living most of his life in the Amazonas Jungle. If you want to move your feet and your hips, this is where you should go.

This week Loppen are apparently only taking non European Indie bands in. This Saturday it is Australia, who are delivering. The Stroppies are from Melbourne, and are on there first tour, after releasing there first album. So they are a new hope for the future. Holm are a local support band.

Halshug is one of the best new metal bands. Since Debut in 2012 they have become more mature , and have slowed down a bit, but are playing just as loud. On the tour they have come to Stengade , and are supported by Deformation, who are more like Hard Core Punk.

Hello Sister ! Hej Søster is a Concert in Vega, taking initiative for bringing more women into Music. Falullah has invited Marie Key, Soleima, Nelson Can among other for this one day festival in Vega. And they are right! WE NEED MORE WOMEN IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS.

Sunday 15th

On Sunday, a Half Marathon Race are taking over the Streets of Copenhagen. But since the roads are closed anyway, Nørrebrogade are making a day of street party’s. And there is a party at Den Røde Plads. So loads of entertainment on your Sunday.

Tuesday 17th

Mystery Lights are said to be one of the best Garage rock bands right now. Listening to them, I have difficulties in hearing the garage part of it, but it sounds interesting like Kinks and a bit of psych. Good guitar work and old School organs. Supported by DYGL, which is Japanese, and more of the same kind. It might be an interesting Tuesday evening at Loppen.

Samba from Hell? Satanique Samba Trio, are at Alice, and are performing Alternative, Experimental Free Jazz samba for your poor ears. And its a 5 piece trio from Brazil. But the name stuck.

Wednesday 18th

Most people – and Clubs – move the birthday to the next weekend. But not in Stengade. Its Wednesday the 18th so why not celebrate with a couple of Australian rock bands. Anyway here are DZ Deathrays and Press Club, all the way from Down Under. Listening to the two hard rock Bands, I think Press club is the best. For 9.99 kr in the entry, this must be the best value for the money of this week.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STENGADE !!!

Photo: Nexö at Nostalgifuratu in Rockmaskinen last Saturday. Not the last time I see them.

Kill Your darlings

Sometimes you have to look deep and realise. Like right now for me . I just dont have time to do the blog. At least not in this week, and not the following. And maybe not before August. I am just to busy living my life. So the next couple of months the updates will be shorter and more sporadic. I am not promising anything, but will just give you the most important news, that I can find. It could be the new way of doing things…

But instead of the busy life lets celebrate, that it´s a normal Danish Summer, with rain and sunshine, and wind in the hair. It feels almost like normal.

But anyway all the live Music venues are closing down, leaving the scene to the big and small festivals, that you can find. I have not been able to find a guide to all the festivals, so if you know of one, then give me a hint.

K – Town Hardcore festival is the most interesting Punk Metal event of the year, taking place at Ungdomshust. D61. Punks from all over will gather together and have a party, ending on Sunday with Bike Wars and more Punk in Ungdomshuset. The 3-day Tickets are sold out, but if you come early there is still one day tickets for sale. Cash Only

In Loppen, they have Frigjort Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Its mostly Bands from the Kolding area that are perfoming. So its upcoming young bands, that are getting there chance in a lifetime.

In Alicecph.com, they are arranging an Organ festival: It takes place in Concert Kirken in Blaagaards Plads, with the old Church organ here.

Thursday 13th
Gorilla Angreb are at Underwerket. The Melodic, but still Dirty Punk band is one of the best in Copenhagen, and its sold out, so you have to be lucky to find a ticket. Its a warm up for K-Town festival.

Friday 14th
For some Saharan Desert Blues head for Loppen and Mdou Moctar. You can feel the dryness in your nostrils, while listening to the simple accords, and basic journey into the Saharan desert landscape. Its from Niger he is bringing you the sound of the guitar in the wind.

At matrikel 1 on Højbro Plads, the celebration is for the B-day of Beat Box. With DJ Mashti and Friends playing Techno, this is the night, that will end with you dancing into the rising sun, and the empty streets of Copenhagen.

For you African music lovers, there is also some good news. In Operaen you can find International Rap Duo and Creative Directors M3NSA & Wanlov the Kubolor aka FOKN Bois are back with a new project and this time they are laughing at themselves for a change. bring cash

Steven Malkmus from legendary Indie Rockers Pavement, is in town with his new band The Jicks. Its in Lille Vega, and could be a very good intense concert.

Saturday 15th
In Christiania Jazzklub they have a visit from Derti Band. Its smoke filed Jazz in a tight atmosphere, with a tight Band. In Jazzklubben, they are not very good at announcing there gigs, but here is the chance. Cash only.

Hotel Hunger is back from the 1990´s playing at Amager Bio. Only for dedicated fans.

Sunday 16th
As Usual the third day of K-Town is celebrated with Bike Wars at Blaagårds plads. Bike Wars is building insane bikes out of scrap metal, and ramming them into each other. It’s like robot wars. But with bikes. And real people. And punks. And bands Playing loud and disturbing Music. Its great fun.

The Dwarves is Garage, Grunge and Punk. Its at Underwerket and they are supported by two bands. The Dahmers from Sweden, and Kill the Rooster, that are very Local

Photo: Roskilde Festival Last year, with a brazilian band I don´t remember. But It was Great

Pentecost weekend, and Pre festival Time

I forgot to tell you about the Klang Festival. Maybe because I am not a very enthusiastic person when it comes to Experimental Avandgarde. But That shouldn’t hold you back for making some new experiments.

Another Genre Festival is The 3rd Copenhagen Underground Film + Music Festival taking place across the city from 6-8 June. All events are donation based and the money which is collected will go to support Doctors Without Borders. So give all your money to this great enthusiastic project and go for some Electronic music. There is also a Bike-in-Cinema at the Old Ungdomshus Ground 69

Pray for warm sunny weather for the Pentecost Carnival in Copenhagen. As far as I can see, it has moved back to the Centre of the city, and is at Saturday in Rådhuspladsen. Prepare for Drums, Samba and all dressed up women, that leaves little to my imagination.

At the other end of the Spectre its a little more ruff with the Middelaldermarket – Medieval age market in Ballerup. Knights tournaments, rustic food and a great market. And of course Mjød. Take it away. Friday to Monday

Live Music

Wednesday 5th
Still Corners is Synth pop with a dreamy tone. The British band broke through in 2010, and sitting here listening to them its also a Dire straits Guitar. Loppen is putting up the stage, and the Support band is Danish Why Sun. Its more dreamy with Jesus and the Mary Chain Noise guitar.

I have heard Rumours that there is an Anti Election Party at Jagtvej 69. Starting at sundown. Party Rebels are the Host. But its been cencored by FAcebook.

Den Grå Hall in Christiania, must be the perfect setting for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Maybe its the Danish Drummer in BRMC that insisted in this setting. It sold out, but see if you can get lucky and find some tickets. Black Noise Rock for you

In Byhaven at Pumpehuset you can find Hoison Bascoe and CuzticLyla Haifa. Its Electronic Pop and acoustic Folk. So if you don´t care about the election, then this is a good place to go.

Your daily metal doze you will find at HotelCecil.dk with Swedish Shining. Its Progressive Black metal, and they are supported by a Slovenian band.

Thursday 6th
For me Mavourneen is the head name at Byhaven in Pumpehuset. But on the poster its Dune Messiah that is at the top. Mavourneen is No wave and noise rock, while Dune Messiah is a bit more Vocals, inspired by the great Rock´n roll poets.

Three upcoming bands at Raahuset: Beach Envy (Garage Rock) Januar (Danish Singer-songwriter) and Abel (Atmospheric pop ballads) Its free, so why not go?

Ever heard of Polyfeen? As the only Psych band from the 1960´s that still exist? They have been reunited and are touring the Country, with the Copenhagen stop at Lygtens Kro, that is more and more turning into psychedelia. Its free.

Friday 7th
Børnemagt is making a “All Power to The Kids” Party at Ungdomshuset. I been involved in these party’s, some years back, and its a lot of work with it. But Great Fun. They have Nexø coming with full angry Punk Outfit. And also Følsom Front are announced, and its a bit more quiet.

Bolværket !!! Just say the name. Its one of the most Authentic rock bands I Know of, with there Danish Lyrics of social de-route. Now they are at Holmbladsgade Amager at Prismen. Go For it!!! Bolværket always deliver.

This weeks African concert you can find in Operaen Christiania. Faratuben is a Malian- Band, so its west African dancing right into your ass, and you better move it white Person. Their name is a blend of two words: Farafi – black and Toubabu – white . Cash for entry and Bar.

Last Raw Grooves arrangement at Råhuset. Five DJs are kicking ass, and let you dance into the summer. As always you can expect great quality techno and house music.

Saturday 8th
The Mexican Festival is again taking place in Blågårds Plads. Mariachi Bands, Tacos, Tequila Skulls, And the finest dresses you can think of (except at the Carnival) . The ambassador is coming by, and take a drink with you, before he makes a speech. Its Fiesta, like there is no Manaja.

Is it long time since you have seen a real good Dragshow? Here is your change at Lille Vega with the Mx Draghouse Competition. I bet that it will be a good fun and a lot of entertainment. Its all gender competition, so you still have the Change to practise. 😉

Geoff Bender is Whiskey, Punk and Klezmer. He is on stage with his rich voice, accordion, and a band that’s kicking Ass. The other band is quiet the opposite. Karina Willumsen is a Danish Singer, and she is both funny and clever, with her left wing songs going against the Capitalist system. To uneven bands on one stage.

A place for good techno and electronis today is Underwerket in Valby. Kosa Vostar X Beta Hz are celebrating the summer. Dan Darco from Malmø Sweden is the head name, so its underground techno into your heart. Its free until midnight, and after that you better bring some cash for the entrance.

Sleaford Mods is a mix between Techno and Punk, with a touch of Rap. Its a two man (Voice and electronics) very Typical British band with harsh Texts and an attitude of no Bullshit. The Support is Gorilla Angreb in Den Grå Hal, Christiania.

If you go Nord east, as far as you can go, you will end up at Nordsøvej in Nordhavnen NordsøLIVE. And out here they are making a small jazzy festival. There are many bands playing and food and drinks and a shuttle Bus. But I cant see the entry price anywhere. Maybe its for free.

Bølgen at Kalvebod Brygge is making waves for another Electronic Dancing Event. Drinks, cool music, swimming in the harbour. What more to ask for? 🙂

And the last thing to mention is the Nakkefestival preparty In Ungdomshuset. Both Salen and Dødsmaskinen are open for Punk live acts and House / Disco DJ´s. Cheap Beer, donation at the door, and Cash Only.

Sunday 9th
Monday is a Holiday, so you should think that somebody would put up a party, but nothing really happens. We have to make our own Fiesta. <2

Photo: Napoleon Solo At Stengade

Pisstortion is Back

The Pistortion Party is back in Copenhagen. Its the wildest Party on the Planet Denmark. Wednesday its Nørrebro, and Thursday its Vesterbro. The Neighboors hate it, and I am in a Limbo. Some places there are to many drugs, but the sheer chaos around it is appealing, and that you can make such a big party in your normal environment is beautiful. The rest of the week its at Refshaleøen, and a little bit more quiet.

If you are not in the mood for Distortion, you can go to Stengade or Alicecph.com, where they have five days of presenting the 1 year Students from the Rhytmic Conservatorium Copenhagen RMC. Good and new, young Music, and its free. 2nd to 7th of June.

Another place to avoid Distortion is in Pumpehuset, with Udgårdsfest 2019. Headname is Finnish Moonsorrow and Norwegian Trollfest, and with 3 other bands in the two days the Fest I taking, there is plenty of opportunity to stay in your metal Bubble.

Podcast Festival at Hotel cecil, with a lot of listening, and talks. Close your eyes and enjoy the darkness.

This weeks Blog is a little short, since time is running to fast for me. Thats the ways it goes. … I have to take care of myself. 🙂

Saturday June 1st
Black Lips, is difficult to put in a box. Its a little bit of Pop, Garage, Lo Fi, but they have a lot of energy that they cant udse for anything else. Been going on for 20 years, and now Loppen are putting them on stage. Really worth going to.

Romperayo sounds like a fast moving musical journey through Colombian tropical folklore, a mischievous and modern interpretation of the up-tempo rhythms of descarga and the psychedelic sounds of 70s cumbia. Its nice and easy and ready to go dancing at Alice.

In Ungdomshuset you can go and get rid of your aggresions on the Dance Floor at this Straight Edge event. Urano, Afmagt and Puke Wolf is at stage in Dødsmaskinen. Cash Only and earplugs is also a good idea.

A week before Copenhagen Carnival takes over the city, Operaen, Christiania are inviting you to the pre-carnival party at Operaen, Christiania. Copenhagen-based A Banda brings their Brazilian big band and dance show to Operaen in Christiania. Dance along to samba, samba-reggae, frevo, and more.

Now it is almost summer, and then two outdoor places are opening up: Byhaven, is the Court yard of Pumpherston, and they have free concerts all summer. Check out the programme here.
At Tivoli the concerts are not free. You have to pay the entrance anyway (200 kr Friday after 19.00) I will off course update you on the good bands who are playing. But May starts out with real shitty weather, so its bad timing.

Smoking
You can join The International Marijuana march. It start at saturday May 4th 1 PM from Christiania, and takes a loooooong route around in Copenhagen. They have a plan, but if everything goes as usual, it wll be delayed. If you are joining later, then find the March by the Smell 😀

Liberty
Remember that Saturday May 4th is the day it was announced the surrender of the Nazis in 1945 after the 2nd WW. In Copenhagen it is celebrated in the evening with putting lights in the windows. There is a march in Vesterbro from Halmtorvet. And now – more than ever – we need to stand against racism and hatred.

Thursday 2nd
Ska lovers should go out for The Scandinavian Ska Festival. Its in different venues, mainly around Kødbyen, and there are both Battles and concerts. I think its the first time for the Festival, and I hope I can go and do some nice dancing.

Its Straight Edge In Ungdomshuset when Finisterre (de) Dark hardcore from Köln, Germany Weak Ties (de)
Fastcore/powerviolence from Bielefeld, Germany and Rot Away (cph)
Blackened hardcore from Copenhagen.
ROT AWAY is the Denmark’s newest hardcore outfit. Playing out of Copenhagen, the newly formed quartet, plays a mixture of old school metal and blackened hardcore. Cash Only !!!

It seems like Greek psych is a special thing and here it is again: Naxatras are inspired by early Pink Floyd but also with a touch of Black Sabbath in there more psychedelic period. The other band is Rezn from the USA, who are more of the same. Remember your drugs, and go on a trip in deep space. Stenagde are putting up the stage.

Alicecph.com has a full program. Thursday its very experimental Avantgarde. London five-piece HOUSEWIVES are a genreless band who play experimental music that points to the future. Leisure is more Punk like, and I come to remember ”Dyreforsøg from the 1990´s” .

In Mayhem – on the border between Nørrebro and Østerbro – they are not so glad for making event on Facebook. So I don’t now what to say about the three days of music they are presenting. But touch the Link and see if you are wiser than I am.

Fastpoholmen are performing there Danish /Swedish Folk/ World Music in Tivoli on “Lille fredag”. Its not for Free, but cost 130 Kr. Its a good band, but the setting could be better.

At Bartof Station you can find Ron Melancon, from South States USA. Its Dark Country, in the style of Johnny Cash/ Tom Waits, though I doubt that Ron has ever taken serious drugs, or been to prison. 😉 But its a good voice and a good band.

I Kind of like the Danish Band Sterling. There pop with light lyrics is nice, and here they are at Vega, Ideal Bar.

Friday 3rd
For the Old school legend seekers Loppen Is presenting Black Sheep, who is East Coast Hip Hop. With scratching and a fantastic MC, this can be an unforgettable evening at Loppen. Al Agami is supporting and will have troubles with matching the head name.

More psychedelic at Stengade this evening with three bands entering the stage. While Swedish Hällas (Folk inspired ) and local Grusom are melodic stoner then Swedish Bomber are more straight away Heavy Metal Rock. So join the forces of fans, and find your ear plugs and move your Ass to Stengade.

There is a lot of the new Heart Breaker Danish Pop songs that I dislike, with too much Autotune. But First Flush are different. They are Danish Lyrics that are worth listening to, and a little bit psych. Karens Minde in Sydhavn are hosting First Flush.

Saturday 4th

Punks Undead is back at Underwerket. This time with De Gule Sinker, Dungeon days and Out of Bounds. The first two are locals, the last one is from Aalborg. Ive seen De Gule Sinker before, but its more Hard rock than Punk, so Maybe Punks are really Dead? Remember Ear plugs. 🙂

In Bolsjefabrikken its Old school Hip Hop called ”Back from the Grill party Vol 1”. Stage performances includes Kuku Agami, Dark Matter and Cobra Commander and DJ´s are also here to make your evening swell. Cheap Entry and beer, and its Cash only.

I had to Google Cinco de Mayo to find out what’s its really about. But something about the Mexicans beating up the French in 1862, and today its mostly celebrated in the USA with drinking beer. In High Voltage they also like you to buy there Beer, and on stage they have Hola Ghost (Mexican Psychobillie), Zak and the Krakens (Surf) and Cecilia is dropping by to show you how to swallow a sword.

Gangway is Back!!! the 1980´s Indie Pop band with the catchy tunes are now at Store Vega. They are 30 years older, so it can exiting to see if they still have the grip.

Sunday 5th
Black Tusk and Mirror Queen, are both Metal / Sludge bands from Savannah and NYC. I don’t think you will be disappointed with the wilderness performed on the stage at Loppen!!! Black Tusk call there music “Swamp metal”.

Tami Nielson is different. Its both soul with a snatch of cabaret, and I think she is sexy as hell. Her album is called Sassafrass, so she is a bit Sassy. Its at Amager Bio you can witness this Live performance.

For Stoner Rock Fans John Garcia is the High priest. He started with Kyuss in the 1980´s and has since been in other bands and going solo. So what you can expect at Loppen is a man who has a great experience, not to mention a really good voice. Listen to his new stuff I cant help thinking about Rocky Eriksson from 13th floor Elevators. But there is also some really good Stoner Rock.

Gyedu-Blay Ambolley is a man from Takoradi in Ghana. Since the 1970´s he has been performing with his own kind of music. Very smooth, jazzy, funky, danceable music. Like a good brandy it is smoothing around your body. So I if you need to dance the winter away. This is it . Its in Alicecph

Brass Against. WTF is that? Well its a 9 piece brass band making covers of new bands. So they have Rage Against Machine – Pantera – Public Enemy and others on the play list. And with a very enthusiastic and political singer it could be a very good Concert. Its in Lille Vega, so its quite expensive on a Sunday.

Monday 11th
If you have nothing to do this Monday, then try to see if you can hustle some tickets to KOKOKO at Alice in Nørrebro. I heard them last year at Roskilde Festival, and its a really good live band. They are from Kinshasa, Congo and play Congotronics on self made instruments. Its sold out, so you have to find a way to get the tickets.

Low is a brilliant name for the US Shoegazer band, performing in DR´s Koncerthuset. Its Minimalistic, introvert and a little bit depressing. Some also call it slowcore. A good time to think about what when wrong with your life, and how you ended here. I saw them in Stengade in the 90´s , and i´m still thinking. There´s a waiting list.

Tuesday 12th
Veronica Torres from Pill (US) has a really remarkebly soft and harsh voice, giving the Post Punk Indie band some etch. Its at Loppen and what else to do on a Tuesday.

Photo: Praed at Alice. Fantastic Concert with very few People.
