Number One Hundred – and the last Blog from me?

I have reached the end of the journey with making this Blog. I realise that I have lost the energy, and its time to continue with new Projects . That it became blog number 100 is absolutely an coincidence. I just counted and found out that this is the hundred. I don’t know if I will be starting up again later, so lets call this a break. I am just moving my priorities to something else. Thank you for following so far. I hope you have enjoyed and that this has opened up for some new experiences.

See you out on the Dancefloor – in the real world.

Movies

There is a couple of places where you can watch free movies in Copenhagen. Unfortunately both are on wendesday. Right next to my doorstep is Urban 13 in a red box under the freeway Bispebuen. They are showing both documentarys and Feature films and there is an introduction in English. Reminds me of the time I was in charge of the cinema in Ungdomshuset Jagtvej. Its warm and cozy and there are bar open. https://www.facebook.com/events/177105680193576/
The other place is at The Cathedral Vor Frue Kirke in Nørregade. They are not announcing the program, but you can lie down on fatboys an watch it on a big screen. https://www.facebook.com/events/1011788159206648/

Live Music

Wednesday 26th
Kvelertak is one of the best Scandinavian Hard Rock / Punk / Metal Bands right know. I have seen them a couple of times, and never been disappointed. The only problem is that it is Wednesday evening in Amager Bio. But the problem first comes Thursday morning. So why not go to the concert. Carpe Fucking Diem. Blood Command is supporting.

Özgür is a Turkish Guy who are playing Saz a Folk instrument from The Anatolian Heights. It sounds great, and you should give it a Chance. Warming up is local Aysay. With Nordic medieval Folk and Danish Lyrics. Its at Alice and part of Vinterjazz Festival.

Dance with the Dead are Combining metal and Electronic Music with inspiration from Horror movies like Frankenstein. Pumpehuset are pumping up the Energy.

Thursday 27th
Ho99o9 (Horror) is US Hip Hop at its best, and the Live shows should be absolutely amazing. But I don’t know why organizer Journey Fest has put them with local Metal band Slægt? And Then with UK band 404 which is sort of experimental electronic Hip Hop. It seems like three bands that has each there audience. Loppen is putting up the stage for this event.

The Blue Van is a local Rock´n Roll Band. They will soon be out with some new material. They are a really good live band, and now they are at Lille Vega.

French Oi! Punk at Underwerket in Valby. Two Bands: Bromure and Squelette from somewhere in Franch and then they are Supported by Stokes from Somewhere in Copenhagen.

Another two Day party is at Alice in Nørrebro, where the psych Band Mythic Sunship are hosting these bands: Friday: KPTTM + Josefine Opsahl + France + Mythic Sunship Saturday: Yuri + Muriel Grossmann Quintet + Narcosatanicos + Mythic Sunship w. At Mayhem on the border between Nørrebro and Østerbro, they have an evening with Electronics from Luftbårne , Klapjagt and Grøn. Its cheap but its cash Only for the entrance and bar.

Ungdomshuset has a Punk evening with a couple of German Bands: Hatehug and Gulag Beach (Great band name) are ruining the stage and the inside of your head. Supported by K-Town band The lost Loves.

More Punk at Underwerket. From Netherlands is coming Ink Bomb and then there are Two Local K-Town Bands: Wayl and Them Bailers. Punks Undead are putting up the show.

In Operaen Christiania, Old timer Stig Møller is hosting an evening with his Trio. Old songs in an old setting with an old man.

Saturday 29th
Drag Shows are very entertaining, and when the Drag Community of Copenhagen celebrates a Decade of drag, you can be sure to get entertained. And why not join? Find the best outfit you have and be a part of the Drag Race.

The small summer festival of Avernax are making a winter show. Its at Christianshavn Beboerhus and they have three bands on the poster: De Høje Hæle (Punk) Orcas ( Social Realistic guitar) and Kenton Slash Demon. You get cheaper Beer at the bar if you bring your own Cup. 🙂

Box and The Twins are sounding like movie music with atmospheric tunes, like you are drifting through the dark City Scapes. The German Band is supported Electro Pop Duo Bragolin from The Netherlands in Stengade.

Trypical Cumbria: Plays Cumbia and other traditional Latin American music arranged for a big orchestra. They are once again performing at Operaen, and remember cash for entrance and bar.

A groovy evening awaits you at Bolsjefabrikken. Dubfabrikken are hosting with DJ´s. Homegrown Sound from Croatia are Playing alongside Bass Matters (hr/dk) Bring Cash money.

Just around the corner from Bolsjefabrikken you find Mayhem, who are hosting some of this strange experimental music. Kasper T. Toeplitz – Marcela Lucatelli – Jørgen Teller & The Empty Stairs (JT, Henrik Olsson, Søren Gorm, Tomas Ortved) are entering the Stage. Cash only at the bar, and you can buy tickets in advance.

Sunday March 1st
Dont forget that march 1st is the day the Police Unlawfully stormed Ungdomshuset on Jagtvej in 2007. This year the Demonstration is leaving from Blågårds Plads Going out to ground 69, where there will be a vegan Public kitchen

We need some more Feminism in Reggae and Roots. And here it is : Sister Nancy from Jamaica is here at Loppen with the Roots Harmonics Band.

4 Hardrock / Metal bands are entering Stengade this Sunday. After The Buriel (US) , Make Them Suffer (Aus) , Polar (UK) and Spriritbox (Canada). They are all good, and you have the chance to see them on a small stage.

The First Koncert with Swedish Sara Parkman sold out fast, so there is an Extra Show at Alice. She is creating her very own contemporary take on the Nordic folk music tradition, charged with poetry and political protest.

Pouya is From Florida, and one of the best Underground – Alternative Rappers in the US. He is at Pumpehuset, so now you can fill up your yearly Rap Quota.

Neo Soul, Jazz and South American beats are part of the smothness that Brazillian / Norwegian Charlotte Dos Santos is showing. You can find it at Vega- ideal Bar.

Monday march 2nd
New Years Day is a band name, and you can say they are a couple of months late. They are branded as Goth, but it sounds more like Hard Rock / Arena Rock. Pumpehuset are putting up the stage.

Wednesday 4th
There is White Trash Country Rock at Pumpehuset. The Cadillac Three are delivering, but its not real dirty like Rockabilly.

Female Trash Metal into your ears with Brazilian Nervosa. Tighten your seatbelt and bang your head at Stengade. Demolizer from Copenhagen are Supporting.

Kakkmaddafakka are an Norwegian Indiepop band, and you can be sure that the Norwegian community in Copenhagen will be here at Store Vega.

Thats all for now Folks…

May 1st, May 4th and Cinco Mayo

Now it is almost summer, and then two outdoor places are opening up: Byhaven, is the Court yard of Pumpherston, and they have free concerts all summer. Check out the programme here.
At Tivoli the concerts are not free. You have to pay the entrance anyway (200 kr Friday after 19.00) I will off course update you on the good bands who are playing. But May starts out with real shitty weather, so its bad timing.

Design
The Danish Design Festival is starting up from May 1st and runs until may 13th. There are exhibitions, event, Talks and much more. You can find the full program here.

Smoking
You can join The International Marijuana march. It start at saturday May 4th 1 PM from Christiania, and takes a loooooong route around in Copenhagen. They have a plan, but if everything goes as usual, it wll be delayed. If you are joining later, then find the March by the Smell 😀

Liberty
Remember that Saturday May 4th is the day it was announced the surrender of the Nazis in 1945 after the 2nd WW. In Copenhagen it is celebrated in the evening with putting lights in the windows. There is a march in Vesterbro from Halmtorvet. And now – more than ever – we need to stand against racism and hatred.

Thursday 2nd
Ska lovers should go out for The Scandinavian Ska Festival. Its in different venues, mainly around Kødbyen, and there are both Battles and concerts. I think its the first time for the Festival, and I hope I can go and do some nice dancing.

Its Straight Edge In Ungdomshuset when Finisterre (de) Dark hardcore from Köln, Germany Weak Ties (de)
Fastcore/powerviolence from Bielefeld, Germany and Rot Away (cph)
Blackened hardcore from Copenhagen.
ROT AWAY is the Denmark’s newest hardcore outfit. Playing out of Copenhagen, the newly formed quartet, plays a mixture of old school metal and blackened hardcore. Cash Only !!!

It seems like Greek psych is a special thing and here it is again: Naxatras are inspired by early Pink Floyd but also with a touch of Black Sabbath in there more psychedelic period. The other band is Rezn from the USA, who are more of the same. Remember your drugs, and go on a trip in deep space. Stenagde are putting up the stage.

Alicecph.com has a full program. Thursday its very experimental Avantgarde. London five-piece HOUSEWIVES are a genreless band who play experimental music that points to the future. Leisure is more Punk like, and I come to remember ”Dyreforsøg from the 1990´s” .

In Mayhem – on the border between Nørrebro and Østerbro – they are not so glad for making event on Facebook. So I don’t now what to say about the three days of music they are presenting. But touch the Link and see if you are wiser than I am.

Fastpoholmen are performing there Danish /Swedish Folk/ World Music in Tivoli on “Lille fredag”. Its not for Free, but cost 130 Kr. Its a good band, but the setting could be better.

At Bartof Station you can find Ron Melancon, from South States USA. Its Dark Country, in the style of Johnny Cash/ Tom Waits, though I doubt that Ron has ever taken serious drugs, or been to prison. 😉 But its a good voice and a good band.

I Kind of like the Danish Band Sterling. There pop with light lyrics is nice, and here they are at Vega, Ideal Bar.

Friday 3rd
For the Old school legend seekers Loppen Is presenting Black Sheep, who is East Coast Hip Hop. With scratching and a fantastic MC, this can be an unforgettable evening at Loppen. Al Agami is supporting and will have troubles with matching the head name.

More psychedelic at Stengade this evening with three bands entering the stage. While Swedish Hällas (Folk inspired ) and local Grusom are melodic stoner then Swedish Bomber are more straight away Heavy Metal Rock. So join the forces of fans, and find your ear plugs and move your Ass to Stengade.

There is a lot of the new Heart Breaker Danish Pop songs that I dislike, with too much Autotune. But First Flush are different. They are Danish Lyrics that are worth listening to, and a little bit psych. Karens Minde in Sydhavn are hosting First Flush.

Saturday 4th
Greenland is on Focus at Loppen with Four bands from the not so cold anymore land. Nive Nielsen & The Deer Children, Don Maliko, Sound of the Damned, Suluit . The Music is very diverse with everything from Native folk, Heavy Metal and Indie. Both in English and Inuit

Disco and Ungdomshuset? Yes, its tonight when you are invited to this party, with Live bands and DJ´s . They call it Groovy days in Funktown, and you should bring your best dancing shoes and cash for drinks bar.

The Dispensary is a Whiskey / Beer Bar in Outer Nørrebrogade. They have concerts in the cellar, and this Saturday its Eamon McGrath who is performing with deep felt social realistic songs.

Dark thinking People from the 1980´s Copenhagen Post Punk Scene, should go for Barbue in Huset, where there is a revival party. Sort Morfar, Tristan T and The Tide are performing, so find your Black suit and get down to it.

Punks Undead is back at Underwerket. This time with De Gule Sinker, Dungeon days and Out of Bounds. The first two are locals, the last one is from Aalborg. Ive seen De Gule Sinker before, but its more Hard rock than Punk, so Maybe Punks are really Dead? Remember Ear plugs. 🙂

In Bolsjefabrikken its Old school Hip Hop called ”Back from the Grill party Vol 1”. Stage performances includes Kuku Agami, Dark Matter and Cobra Commander and DJ´s are also here to make your evening swell. Cheap Entry and beer, and its Cash only.

I had to Google Cinco de Mayo to find out what’s its really about. But something about the Mexicans beating up the French in 1862, and today its mostly celebrated in the USA with drinking beer. In High Voltage they also like you to buy there Beer, and on stage they have Hola Ghost (Mexican Psychobillie), Zak and the Krakens (Surf) and Cecilia is dropping by to show you how to swallow a sword.

Gangway is Back!!! the 1980´s Indie Pop band with the catchy tunes are now at Store Vega. They are 30 years older, so it can exiting to see if they still have the grip.

Sunday 5th
Black Tusk and Mirror Queen, are both Metal / Sludge bands from Savannah and NYC. I don’t think you will be disappointed with the wilderness performed on the stage at Loppen!!! Black Tusk call there music “Swamp metal”.

Tami Nielson is different. Its both soul with a snatch of cabaret, and I think she is sexy as hell. Her album is called Sassafrass, so she is a bit Sassy. Its at Amager Bio you can witness this Live performance.

Monday 6th
Noisy Beehive is an experimental music venue, an independent record label and an art collective, based in Copenhagen.   Mavi Express – a Copenhagen- based trio bringing together musicians of various nationalities and backgrounds. With instruments such as bouzouki, violin, electric guitar, and percussion Lo thrives in the intersection between folk and indiepop music and with her charismatic voice and personality.

Brooke Candy describes her sold as “JANE GOODALL meets JAYNE MANSFIELD ”. Its hard pop, with a strong voice at Lille Vega. She could be the next thing on bigger stages, but still needs the song to Break trough.

Autumn Holidays in the late summer

This week it is autumn holiday for all schools, so that means that there is no bedtime curfew, and the kids can party all night. (Like my daughter 😉 ) .

And since we have the hottest mid October ever recorded, there are even space for outdoor events. “Normally” it would be 5 degress celcius and raining right now. So you better feel lucky. 😀
A good place to hang out in good weather is always at Dronning Louises Bridge in the afternoon, on the way to Nørrebro. Often a party pops up out of nowhere. Dont look for the party – let the party find you. Also Christiania is a good place to pick up a late summer party.
While writing this I am at Bornholm visiting friends, and enjoying the good weather.
Live Music
I can see two really good places to go for tuesday. At Hotel Cecil, near Strøget, You can go for Hot Snakes and Deaf Wish, with the no nonsense raw rock´n roll, Full of energy and a lot of power.

Also on tuesday head for Loppen , Christiania, and Godfathers that have reemerged from the 80´s . I remember them playing a bid poppy guitar new wave.
And now they are here again, if you need a little going back to the good times 😉

Thursday

Bambara sounds like an African band name, but they are the opposite, and are performing some of the darkest rock you can imagine with inspiration from Nick Cave and Birthday Party and Swans. Post punk guitar noise, there must also be some Sonic Youth inspiration. It is Thursday October 18 on Loppen.

Friday
One of the best bands right now in Copenhagen is Baby in Wain with there very modern drums and two guitars Rock. Just coming home from a europeen tour they are performing there new album at Hotel Cecil. Best concert of the week in my humble opinon.

And then you can continue to the Kayak Bar, where they are having new good beer at the bar and DJ´ing is ”kvinder der kender din krop” (Women that knows your body). Sounds like a good evening.

Saturday
For some latin Salsa dancing, the best place to go is AliceCPH where Frente Cumbiero from Colombia are visitors, and are sure to make your hips and feet move in a sexual dance.

And now for something completely different as they say in Monty Python. In Ungdomshuset there an allday support party for good old paper zines, I cant see that there are bands playing but you will meet a lot of new friends. But go on to Bumzen In Baldersgade where they are having yet another party. This time its with a Halloween theme, so bring your orange clothing and a pumpkin. And try to look scary.

Danish Championships in Free Style Rap is taking place in Pumpehuset. Of course you need some knowledge of the danish language to get something out of it, but there are a lot of beats and blows. Its on saturday and with DJ KCL after the event.

Labour Day

Labour Day

In Copenhagen we say Happy red first May, and Green Beer. There is demonstrations from all over the city and they all end in Fælledparken. Here there will be Speeches, concerts, exibitions and a lot of beer drinking. The revolution is far away, but people are having a good time. So go to Fælledpark and drink some beer. The weather wil be cold and windy, but no rain. In the evening, there will be concerts around the city, specially in Nørrebro. Ungdomshuset and Kroteket
I will be found at the AFA party.

Food

After the Papirøen foodmarket closed in december 2017, there has been a long way to cheap food near the center. But now it comes. Just across the bridge from Nyhavn, you can find new street food stalls, selling relatively cheap food for Copenhagen prices. And there are also beer for sale, and of cours it is not the cheap Carlsberg beer. It is expencive crafted micro brewerie beer. But it tastes good.

African music

And what to do on a wendesday? Well you can go to Alice and listen to nice nice soft mellow Kora music, and dance a little around. The kora is played by Dawda Joabarteh, and with him there is a band af some of the best Jazz musicians in Copenhagen. Sounds really good. https://www.youtube.com

48 hours

Another 48 hours

In Nørrebro the coming weekend, there is the 48 hours Festival. It is mostly locals DIY and non profit. There will be concerts, art exibitions, theater perfomances and much more. If you SoMe search #48timer all the events pop right up in your face.

Sakura

And in the weekend you can also find the japanes celebration of the blooming cherry trees. April 28th and 29th you can find it at Langelinie. There will be performences on differet martial arts, Japanes food, people dressed up as Pokemons, and much other stuf. Unfortunately the weather looks a bit cold and grey. sakurafestival.dk

Dancing

Move your feet and dance away at alicecph.com where there is Brazilian Afrobeat. It sounds like something that could turn out just fine, and with sweat pouring out, and a lot of beautiful people around. They also have a night disco, but it is not a big attraction.

I have an obcession with paint Spills, so here is a giant from Nørrebrogade 😉
